Don't Believe a Word They Tell You

Frustrated would not even begin to describe the way that I feel about the staff at Amli. When we first were looking at the apartment/moved in, we were told that we could paint the apartment any color that we wanted. All we would have to do is prime it before we moved out. Nearer to our move out date, we double checked about the priming. At that point we were told that we would have to paint in addition to the priming, but they would provide the paint. From there, the story changed to we would have to purchase the correct paint from the correct store. At this point, we asked what the charge would be to leave the apartment as is, since we now were going to be paying for paint, etc. and have to spend a lot of time painting the apartment back. They called the maintenance man who is in charge of this. He said that since we had been good tenants, that we should just prime the apartment and that would be sufficient. We confirmed this more than once, since the story had already changed on many occasions, also mentioning that the living room was a darker blue. They said as long as it was primed, that would be fine. So we went through 3 gallons of primer, primed the entire apartment where we changed the color. On the day of checking out, we were then told they would need to wait for the painters to confirm there would be no additional charges because they were no longer sure that the priming was sufficient. After our 45 day wait period (they were supposed to call after the painting happened and they never did) we just received a bill for over $400 dollars owed to them for painting charges. Keep in mind that this has already subtracted the $150 security deposit. All in all, my advice to anyone who might move here would be to get whatever is said to you in writing, since no one there apparently knows what they are talking about. We plan to fight this. Ill will follow up with the end result.
