Yorkbrook apartments have gone down hill in the past couple of years. I rented an apartment here about 3 years ago and decided to come back until I bought a place of my own as I had a positive experience before. What a difference a couple years make.

If you happen to watch the news, you will already know that someone was murdered in one of the buildings of the complex (in the hallway). The cops are constantly at the apartment complex because it is littered with drug dealers and other social disgraces. I have actually smelled people smoking pot in the hallway on several occasions. My fiance felt unsafe when she would come home late at night, mainly due to creepy guys following her up to our apartment. During the day, the trash would congregate in the parking lot and repair their broken-down cars. In addition, be careful where you park your car, as the kids in the complex vandalize cars and the management company just seems to overlook this. Obscenities were actually carved into this one woman?s car and I constantly have to check my car in the morning to ensure the little thugs didn?t scratch something into mine. If you thinking of renting at this complex, I would call the Bensenville Police Department and have them tell you about the area. They will confirm everything in this review.

Most of the complexes are very noisey. If it isn't the music blasting at all hours of the night, it is the sound of people jumping and running in the apartments above and on the side of you. The complex is littered with kids and they are constantly screaming and running up and down the hallways.

The apartment grounds are very well maintained, however the inside of the complex leaves something to be desired. The only complaint I have about the grounds is that all of the side walks are covered in goose poop. As for the buildings themselves, the hallways smell, probably because the lazy people who live here can?t seem to throw away their garbage. Instead, they leave mounds of garbage in the hallway waiting for the maintenance staff to come and clean it up. The maintenance staff tries hard to keep things in order, but they cannot compete with all the trashy people who live here. In one instance, I came home to my apartment only to find that the hallway smelled like crap (literally). It seems that someone smeared dog crap (or something) all the way down the hallway and left these huge stains right where you get off the elevator.

You should also be aware that the complex pays no utilities. My water bill was approximately $30 to $40 a month, however the only time I used water was to take a shower. Management told me that you pay water every three months; however you actually get a bill every month. It seems that the complex allocates everyone?s water usage to the residents as the water bill never says how much your actual consumption is for any given month. You have to wonder if you are paying for the water used to maintain the pool and/or to wash your clothes. It probably doesn?t help that there is this nasty guy who hoses down his apartment unit every day of the summer. I also lived under this apartment who seemed to flood their bathroom tub on a daily basis, as the water would leak into my apartment at all hours of the night. I reported this to management on several occasions and the problem was never solved.

Parking can be a problem if you are coming home late at night. Often times, I would have to park far from my apartment building because all the parking spaces were full.
