dont waste your time on this place...it seems nice at first when they tell you that utilities are low!!..yeah right...water is $45 a month even if u dont use the water..yet the office said oh your bill will only be 15 or 20 a month...electric will run you $100 plus a month...then they told us that theres plenty of parking..and theres not..u have to get home at 4pm in order to get a decent spot, plus people just dump their cars and leave them there in the parking lot and they never get towed. both my husband and I have had our cars broken into while they were parked out in front of the building yet..because there is NO Security around. Then the doors are always open, and you call the office and they say they can do nothing about it. then you cant forget about the murder that happend over here in the summer in the middle of the day and yorkbrook never even addressed the issue!!!!..its also very loud here..people are constantly making noise in the parking lot from racing cars around the buildings to annoying car alarms going off all hours of the nite...then the elevators are always broken..i've gotten stuck in one 2 times and forget doing laundry, the dryers never work or it takes almost $2.00 to dry one little load of clothes on high heat. and its true that people just "hang out" in the lobby area..and people have been down there drinking, and doing drugs and no one will do anything about it...overall, this isnt a good place. the apartments are fixed up cheap..they are nothing like the model apartments they will show you...and they constantly raise rent..only cause they need to pay more to keep up the landscape..they need to put the money towards the apartments..not flowers that will die in a few weeks.

I completely agree with you. My boyfriend and I have lived there for the past 2 years they have increased out rent from $799 when we first moved in to know with a new least $840. We moved in here b/c basically, we were both starting out, we didn't have any credit and they took a chance on us. They have been patient with us at times on rent, which is apprecitated. The staff is very nice along with the maintainance workers. It is true that the model looks way better than the actual apartment you will be renting. Since we moved in we have had closet doors break, the faucet in the kitchen leaks along with the dishwasher, so everytime you wash dishes water gets all over the floor. We have had them fix it twice now, and it works for a while then goes right back, they raise rent, but they won't replace things when fixing them no longer works. In the bathroom, when you take a shower, there is barely any ventillation so stuff stays wet for a while (causing mold, and mildew in grout of tub, which with no amount of cleaning fixes. The tiles are cheap and are all spread apart with gapping cracks in them. The walls throughout the apartment are so brittle and have been patched so many times that if you walk by the wall it will break apart. There is no trim anywhere in the apartment, just gapping cracks between the carpet and the walls which in some spots are filled with brillow pad material (wonder why that is) The patio screen door is on track by 2 plastic wheels which after the first time you use it, they will break, then you are constantly putting the door back on track. Lately when you request work done, they don't come for like a week plus. In the kitchen, they have a dishwasher that looks like it is from the 70's, the cabinets and drawers literally break apart and instead of replacing them, they just screw in a bracket and put it back in its place. There are supposed to be 8 inches of concrete in the walls, ceilings, and floors for "sound reduction" the people above us sound like they are a heard of elephants. Then to make it better, they lie about their policies. They tell you online and in the paper that they have 3, 6, 9, and 12 mo. lease options, WRONG, they only have 7 and 12 mo. leases. It's like they want you to stay, and won't let you leave. As far as parking goes..... HORRIBLE! It's true, if you don't get home by 4pm and don't go anywhere on the weekends, then you are stuck parking in the way back of the building and walking far just to get to your apt. that is in the front of the building. And if you plan on having company come to visit, let them know they will end up parking at the back and you can't get in through the back unless they have a key, so they end up walking all the way around the building just to buzz in. I have had my car vandelized a number of times, the car was keyed, backed into, and someone banged their own car door into my car door. So if you have a nice car when you move in, you won't have one by the time you move out unless you want to pay $60 a mo. for a garage and then even if you are ok with that, you have to wait forever just to get one. There have been burgleries, and of course the murder that happened in broad daylight. As a woman, I fear coming home by myself after it is dark out side and then you end up having to park in back. Oh another thing on that... people are psychotic about their parking spot. I have gone through the lot looking for a spot and have someone deliberatly turn their car and lights off and wait for you to pass so you don't snag their spot. Then once you leave, they pull out, and eventually someone else snags the spot. Hallways... they ALWAYS smell of something, wether it is a food smell or some foul smell. Its nice to have trash shutes on every floor, but most people are too lazy to dump them down the shute they just leave it inside the door. The complex does nothing about any of the issues what so ever. Here is a good case in point... last summer at the adult pool next to the fitness center... a male pool attendent was just sitting around, the pool was dirty, and nothing was being done about it. Residents of the complex take it upon themselves to clean the pool if they actually want to get in. All the attendants are worried about it how good a tan they can get. So, anyway this guy is just sitting around and his boyfriend comes to the pool. They both start fooling around on the chairs and people didn't appreciate that too much, then they get up and jump in the pool and are over in the deep end away from everyone else and they are making out, touching etc. Some people left b/c they couldn't handle it. Then one of our friends came down to the pool and walked our way right by the attendant and his boyfriend. His face dropped and when he reached us he told us that they were really playin' around over there under the water (if you know what I mean) they were all giddy and everything and then after about 5 minutes, they both got up and left. So a few mins. pass and then some girl inside the pool starts screaming, it seems that our pool attendant and his boyfriend left a siemen filled treat in the pool for everyone. It was so gross, everyone got out of the pool, went to jump in the shower and other people that had already been out of the pool were on their cell phones calling the office to report it. The next day the pool had been drained, cleaned and in the process of being refilled. A few days later, the same pool attendant is there using the pool, not cleaning it and got off scott free. They just don't care there, they say they do, but they really don't. I would NEVER recommend someone to live here, unless they had no where else to live or they liked the idea of wasting $800 plus a mo. on rent for a 1 bed, 1 bath apartment when you could spend a lot less than that for the same thing anywhere else. My boyfriend and my lease is almost up and we will not be resigning. |
