Obviously the person who wrote the review entitled "The Best!" works at the complex because some of the comments are so far from being true it is hilarious. While I did not have a good experience here, I will attempt to be fair so those people who actually read these comments can make an educated decision.
While it is true that the complex maintains the grounds extremely well (probably the most well kept grounds I have ever seen at an apartment complex), the actual inside of the apartments are far from spectacular. The complex should consider remodeling the apartments on the inside instead of focusing all of their efforts toward something that no one actually benefits from. I think I would rather have an updated kitchen and bathroom or new carpeting instead of knowing that the trees and lawn are well groomed. The truth of the matter is that the carpet in the buildings and apartments are probably the dirtiest I have ever seen. When I first moved in, they cleaned the carpets and it looked very nice. However, once the carpet dries all of the stains resurface and it looks like crap. I tried not to sit on the floor because God only knows what is on that carpet. The kitchen and bathroom have very old appliances and are in need of being remodeled. The complex actually stained the cabinets in the kitchen before we moved in, however failed to make sure it actually dried in time because my roommate and I ruined several pieces of clothing because we had no idea they were actually just stained. I am not sure why they stained them because there were so many cracks in the cabinets that they looked horrible. The fact of the matter is that the inside of these apartments are not taken care of and they are cheap. There is paint all over the cabinets and carpet because the people who paint them do a sub par job. I guess it is expected though, but the rent is so high here that it doesn?t justify the type of apartment you get upon moving in. It doesn?t even come close.
The hallways are actually very dirty too. People leave mounds of garbage in the hallways because they are too lazy to throw it down the garbage chute. The carpet in the hallways is so disgusting because of all the goose poop that is smeared into it. The complex tries to cover the smell with deodorants but just ends up making it worse. The entrance to one of the buildings (specifically 110) smells so bad that I literally have to hold my breath. It is awful.
The complex is also very noisy, probably the worst I have ever stayed in. There are parties and music blasting all night. The people told me that it was one of the quietest places to live, but then again I guess I shouldn't be surprised that isn't true either. People are screaming at all hours of the night, children ride their bikes up and down the hallways and car alarms are going off all the time. If you value your sleep, this place isn't for you.
The complex is also very unsafe. Aside from the fact that there was an actual murder in the complex (in broad day light I might add), which was never addressed by the management staff, there are creepy people always coming in and out of the place. People leave the security doors wide open all night long so random strangers can walk right in. I can't say that I am surprised someone was murdered because people are so careless here. I am pretty sure that is because the majority of people who rent here are lower class. I am positive most of them are Section 8 or living off the government somehow. While it is true you have those types of people everywhere, Yorkbrook has more than I have ever seen. In addition, I am pretty sure people sell a lot of drugs here because the cops are always here and you see all these nasty people coming and going from the building. Plus, there have been occasions where I have actually seen people smoking pot in the hallways/stairwell.
The parking situation is horrible. I think I laughed the most when the person said that they came home at 8 p.m. and found a great spot every time. The only possible way that comment is true is if this person owned a garage because if you get there past 6 p.m. you will be parking in the boonies and hauling your butt to your building. Considering all the people who are Section 8 or living off the government, why would you expect anything else' They have nothing to do; it isn't like they are leaving to go to work.
The last thing I want to comment on is that you pay for everything. The estimates that the office staff give you for electric, heat and water are so far from being true that you almost wonder if they should be reported to the Better Business Bureau. The reality of the situation is this, if you have a two bedroom apartment, your electric bill will run you about 50-80 dollars a month (if you use heat and air) and water will run you about 40 dollars a month (which I cannot believe since most people who have large houses do not pay this). When it comes down to it, there are better complexes that are more reasonably priced than this one. They are having a lot of problems filling the units now and they are running huge specials to get people to fill them. The fact of the matter is that they will raise the price after the first year is up so in reality you save nothing. I would caution anyone considering renting here. It isn?t worth it.

This review has some obvious issues which make it hard to believe the rest of it. In the last paragraph this reviewer mentions the BBB and the cost of utilities being higher than what it would cost in a large house. That's funny... I moved from a large house to an apartment and in my house my electric bill was about $130 per summer month and my water bill was a minimum of $100 in the winter and $250 in the summer. I also had a gas bill which was $300 for heat in the winter ($50 in the summer) which this renter wouldn't have. This reviewer clearly has no idea what it costs to live in a house. Not to mention the review is full of appalling stereotypes.
