Overall a nice place to live.

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2009
I've lived here for almost two years. We have a two bedroom "renovated" apartment. The apartment itself is very nice- my biggest complaint is the paint! I have a two year old daughter & she likes to put her hands on the walls (no paint or crayons or anything- but sometimes there are dirt or wet marks from her hands)- I try to clean the walls but the paint comes off! I don't use anything harsh- mild soap & water. I even try to clean them pressing very lightly- but paint still comes off. Such a hassle. The carpet is awesome. I love the upgraded appliances, light fixtures, etc. I really do not like the new RESERVED parking spaces- I haven't even inquired about how much they cost per month. It's the principle. I moved here and parking was never an issue (and it was FREE!). Now it's awful! These reserved parking spots have got to go! Most of the parking spaces in front of the building are either reserved or handicapped- in order for you to park your car you have to put your walking shoes on. I especially don't like that when I'm coming home late at night. Although I don't feel that this is an unsafe community- you just never know. I hate having to walk so far from my car to get to my building so late at night. Recently a new neighbor moved in downstairs. He is constantly going on his balcony & smoking. I am a non-smoker & hate that I can't enjoy keeping my balcony door open for fresh air. The balcony was my absolute favorite part of having this apartment- but I rarely get to use it since I don't want to be in a cloud of smoke. I know, I know- it's part of the down-side of apartment living, but I've never had this problem with any other apartment & find it odd that it's such a big problem here. Overall- the community is nice. The management office is always posting flyers about things they are doing for the residents. I haven't actually participated in any of them, but I think it's a nice effort. Everytime my husband or I have gone to the office we've always been treated by a nice staff member. Never had any problems with them or maintenance. Actually every time maintenance comes to our apartment for a minor repair, they will replace any burnt out light bulbs. They are very friendly, prompt, & efficient.
I'm pretty sure we will renew our lease in March- so long as the rent doesn't sky rocket and I am able to deal with the parking. If the parking gets worse we may have to play "let's make a deal" with the office. I just feel that I already pay so much for my apartment- parking should be free (like it was when I initially signed my lease).
