I have lived in quite a few apartments, and I have NEVER seen such an atrociously inept staff as I have seen at Stratford Place. Due to a job change, we looked into staying for an additional month so as to have the time to find another apartment close to work. After leaving message after message with no return phone calls, we contacted the district manager for the Illinois region. Miraculously we received a return phone call (as the DM had promised) from the staff manager saying she would get back to us by 2 the next afternoon (this is after we had left her voicemail after voicemail, each time someone promising we'd get a return phone call that day or the next). Needless to say, we did not receive a return phone call by 2, and in fact we never received a return phone call period. We had stressed how important it was that they let us know so that we could figure out alternative living arrangements, but we still have not received an answer from them and so we are apartment hunting tomorrow. They have no concern for their tenants, and are the most unprofessional, unresponsive, inadequate staff I have ever dealt with in any business, ever. Save yourself the headache and choose ANY other apartment in the area. There are plenty around. The apartments across the street are of comparable price, and I'm sure they aren't as revolting to deal with.

My other favorite part about living at Stratford was when we received a knock on the door telling us that we hadn't paid our rent for two months. They claimed to have received no checks from us. When we showed her the cancelled check, she said she'd "look into it" (no apologies, mind you...just blatant rudeness). We called the same apartment manager mentioned above and left voicemail after voicemail letting her know that our bank had confirmed that Stratford Apts had cashed our check, but instead of a return phone call we came home to a note on our door letting us know that we owed the two rent payments plus an exorbitant amount of fees for "lateness". The other check was not cashed, and was also never found. How does an apartment staff lose one check, let alone two'!'! Talk about inept! As I read in someone else's review...run, save yourself. This is no place anyone should be living. Even if they have a couple of swans in their lake to fake us out.
