I have lived a big city before moving back to Bloomington. I found this apartment after looking elsewhere in Blm/Normal and Apt. Mart had the most available units. For the size (1000 sq. feet) and the cost ($635 per month) this apt seemed right. I have had many problems but also many positive experiences. The first day when moving in my father hit the ceiling fan with a bed post and destroyed 3 blades. They charged me for the whole fan. I was not happy. The fan itself was worth maybe $40 but I was charged $150 when they could have replaced the blades.

I have had issues with the garbage disposal, the heat, the AC, the fridge and the oven. I now have a new disposal, new oven and my AC was working great. Maintenance is not wonderful but they do come to check out your problem within a few days. That is better than most places. Some places don't even come at all unless it's an emergency. The positives of this apartment are that there is a washer and dryer in the apartment. It is small but it works. The downside of that is that you pay for the water heater to heat water for laundry and for showers and the dishwasher. The electric bills are so high here. That is the downside. The costs to keep electric and keep the place warm are really hard. The fireplace that is included does not help with the heat. It barely makes it seem warm.

One other downside is the noise level and the safety. The outside doors do not latch or lock and this summer there was a robbery in the parking lot. Lights in the parking lot go out alot. I would say that if you live alone or do not mind the safety issue then you should be fine. I like the size of my apartment and the washer/dryer but for the noise and lack of safety features I'll be looking elsewhere.

The last thing I will say is that if you have a maintenance issue they will always be rude to you no matter what you are calling about. There is one lady in particular who has a big attitude when you call. This is their job to take care of apartments. They should be nicer to their tenants...after all, we pay the rent!!
