It seemed like a good idea at the time...but it wasn't!

We lived at Village Green for several years, in two different apartments.

When we were searching for a place to live, we needed somewhere that would accomodate our two cats. The people at Village Green were very friendly, and the apartment seemed nice. So we decided to live there.

From day one, we had a host of problems. The people moving directly above us had the same last name, so they got our move in dates confused - when we got there, our place wasn't ready! Fortunately, they resolved the issue quickly.

Village Green has a lot of short term tenants, so over the years, we had to deal with many noisy, disruptive neighbors. From the guy who came to our door in the middle of the night because he claimed he had been "hit in the head with a gun" to the groups that would stay up all hours sitting outside on our stairs, I think we saw it all (and heard it all!)

Our first apartment was a two bedroom on the second floor of a three story building that had mostly one bedroom apartments, with the two bedroom apts. at the ends of long hallways. Because of this, there were a lot of people coming in and out at all times. Laundry was in one building only - and it wasn't the one we lived in. It was quite a chore to go down there, as there weren't enough washers/dryers for everyone. It was much easier to load up the car and go to the laundrymat.

Later, we moved into a townhouse (the former tenants had abandoned it!). It was also two bedrooms, but had two bathrooms, and a laundry hookup. We rented a washer and dryer. The neighbors we had there were the worst over all of the ones at our former building. They were extremely noisy and rude - I can't even explain how frustrating it was living next to them. Meanwhile, things at the comlex were going downhill fast - I no longer felt safe there and we had to move. (I didn't really ever feel completely safe there, but in the end it was really bad.)

On a positive note, the apartment staff was always very friendly and helpful. It was too bad they were managing a sinking ship. Village Green needs a lot of work - much more than a simple name change. There are loads of nicer places in Bloomington/Normal - I'd recommend anywhere else but here.
