What a nightmare of a place to live. First they have two kinds of buildings. They won t advertise this. One are made of brick and look OK. The second the type I lived in and more then half the complex are cheap wood framed. They are old poorly built and in such disrepair they should be condemned. We lived there a year. In the winter they don t shovel the stairs or walkways. When I slipped and fell and called the office they actually yelled at ME complaining they have 49 units and. could never shovel all the walkway they have. The windows are single pane and so drafty but the office will give you plastic if you want to cover the windows. Be prepared for high heating bills. The first day there our two kids were playing on the floor. We noticed their socks filthy. The carpet was so dirty we had to buy our own carpet cleaner to clean it. The place had roaches, cigarette burns on the kitchen counter top, hallway and stairs were an embarrassment and a gross amount of bird poop on the back stairs. They have a security officer because of crime problems. We called him a number of times to complain about load music. He told us the music wasn't that loud. The problem is the walls are so thin in these old buildings you hear everything. His advice was to turn up the volume of our TV to muffle the sound of the music.

We came from out of state and found out about the Arbors from their website. Their deception could be considered criminal. They only showed pictures of the brick buildings making off they all were like this. They landscape with flowers in front of the office and by an entrance sign. And these areas are on their website deceiving that the whole complex is landscaped like this. The place was a mess.

They are turning the brick buildings into condos. What I hear is they are giving them a facelift by painting, replacing windows, and kitchen cabinets. I hope they are able to sell them all. The Arbors lower property value in that entire area. I would be scared about a condo homeowners association at a place like this. Not only is there normal upkeep but a majority of the complex is in such disrepair it s those who buy into the complex that will eventually have to pay the cost. The roads alone that are crumbling apart with big potholes everywhere and would cost a small fortune to resurface. They have two pools that are usually broken. Who will be required to repair and upkeep them'.

It took over 2 months to get my deposit back. They had the nerve to take out for not only a cleaning fee but also a carpet-cleaning fee. There is a lot for rent in the area. Rent is cheap in many nice places. Make sure to get a tour of your exact apartment before signing anything or paying anything.

Nice to see actual resident review, not lies written by management!

I agree, you can tell who writes the negative ones (residents) and the positive ones (management). I live there and this description is right on!

What is a 5-day notice? It must have something to do with not paying rent on time, I've never had one.

Yes, A 5-day notice does have something to do with not paying rent on time. The people across the hall from us. (a few loud usually drunk guys) would get one posted on thier door it seemed every month. The Arbors has thier share of degenerates.

drunk and loud makes you a degenerate? Bloomington is full of degenerates not just the Arbors, my thought is, if you are so much better then these "degenerates" why do you live across the hall? Move to Normal where the "non-degenerates" are! I like it here, everyone I've met is nice, I guess I don't live in a "bad" building.

FYI: It is illegal to deduct money from your security deposit after 30 days, they have 30 days to refund partial funds and 45 to return the deposit minus deductions for cleaning or whatever, then they must provide a detail of deductions and reason.

What I find to be funny is that there is a number of people on here that have a lot to say, yet they always submit their responses "anonymously". It is a free country, if you have something to say, then say it, unless you are providing false information, then you should just stay off!!
