It's What You Make of It

I've been living here for 7 years. It's very inexpensive for the area. Normally, a one bedroom is a couple hundred dollars more. Also, you have to pay for gas, water, sewage, trash removal, electricity, etc, at other places in the area. Community Property is the management. I understand they are a division of the previous management, Mid-America Management. But, I haven't looked up anying to confirm that.

I stay here because it's affordable and I don't want, or have the time for, the hassles of owning a home. That's my personal decision. Some people may think it's a bad one, but it's my decision. I happen to think I have class, intelligence, and a great deal of discretion.

I wonder if anyone that calls this the ghetto has ever been in a ghetto, or stepped foot in a housing project. The conditions in Chicago's Housing Projects were deplorable before they were torn down. In this complex there are some issues, but I'm sitting in a clean apartment with no rats or roaches, no shooting, no open drug dealing going on in the hallway or parking lot. As far as I know, no children have been gunned down on the way to school, or snatched. The Bolingbrook Police aren't complicit with organized crime that goes on at Innsbruck, if there is any, as in the CHA and they are very responsive and respectful, for the most part. I have running water, heat, central air that I don't pay extra for, and a basically pleasant experience.

If there is grafitti on the wall, CALL MANAGEMENT! Tell them. Call them until you get results. If the parking lot is too slippery to walk, complain until something gets done. What can management do about people not being able to drive and dinging your car' People can break into your car anywhere.

Problems I noticed:
Writing on the wall doesn't get removed right away.
Parents are not watching their kids. They are often out of control and running through the hallway causing damage.
Carpet in hallway needs to be completely replaced.
Elevator door needs to be painted. It's peeling.

Most of the problems I see here are aesthetic. I've been here 7 years. I know the staff. Some aren't worth a penny. Some go above and beyond their duties. You'll find that anywhere. If you don't believe me, look at the reviews for other apartment complexes in the area, high end or low end. You'll find dissatisfied people everywhere.

A ghetto is marginalization. It's a socioeconomic imposition on a group of people by people in power. The word is European and comes from ---- Germany. Jews were forced to live in ghettos. As far as I know, nobody is forced to live in Innsbruck, or renew their lease, or marked with a star, either literally or figuratively, if they live here. For example, I've gone in and priced other apartments because I thought it was time for a change and nobody told me, "Oh! You come from Innsbruck. You can't rent here" (By the way, I know that would be illegal, I'm just trying to make a point.) Nobody is forced to live here! By the way, this complex does not take Section 8 tenants, who I personally have no problem with. They have a program that reduces your rent slightly if you have a lower income, but it's only by $50 or so. I can leave. But, I would have to work two jobs to live anywhere else in the area, which, I don't think I want to do again. I don't want to leave the area. Bolingbrook is a nice area.

Bottom line, Innsbruck is what you make of it. If there's something wrong, complain until it gets fixed. Taking a bad complacent attitude somewhere else and hoping things will magically be better is ridiculous thinking. Keep an eye on your kids and stop them from doing damage. Train them to be respectful of themselves, other people, and property, especially other people's. For goodness sake, complaining on this site is not going to fix anything.

I'm sorry for the young lady who got into a fight. I hope that doesn't happen to her again. I know of a couple of residents who got their purse snatched. One lady didn't get hurt physically, but was very scared to enter the building by herself for a while, which is understandable. The other lady did get hurt physically. However, a purse snatching can happen anywhere. Now, there are about 400 units in this complex. Some are 3 bedroom. So, there could be upwards of 800 people living in this complex at any given time. I'm sure you'll find a few people that don't get along and a criminal element among the 800 or so people that live here.

This is DEFINITELY! not the enviroment to raise children! Shots fired at Bolingbrook apartment complex -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- By Don Grigas Bolingbrook Reporter Wed Jun 27, 2007, 05:50 PM CDT -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Story Tools: Email This | Print This Bolingbrook, IL - Bolingbrook police continue to try and identify the six people involved in a shooting incident Tuesday at the Innsbruck Apartment Complex on Boughton Road, and are asking the two men who appeared to be targets to step forward and provide information. We have no apparent motive, no suspects and no victims at this time, said Lt. Chris Prochut, spokesman for the Bolingbrook Police Department. At about 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday police received multiple telephone calls from residents at the complex of shots fired in the area west of the 505 Preston Drive Building. According to witness reports, four young men approached two young men near a fire lane when one of the four men fired four or five shots from a handgun at the two men, who fled on foot. After the shots were fired the group of four men also ran away in different directions, Prochut said. By the time officers arrived on the scene no suspects were found, nor were the intended targets located. Police believe the gun used in the shooting was a handgun, and a bullet taken from a window frame in the 505 Preston Drive Building is being examined as evidence. There were no shell casings found at the scene, and the number of shots were four or five, based on witness statement, so we are thinking it was a revolver, Prochut said. Police checked nearby hospitals and emergency medical centers and said there were no reports of gunshot wounds reported. Prochut said investigators were in the process of contacting witnesses a second time to gain additional information.

I don't want to declare my apt here but Exactly 3 weeks earlier on a friday night I had been out to get my something in my car and returned to my apt, was around 00am exactly and one lady started yelling help help and I opened door and she tried to sneak inside my apt I did not let her in but I asked her and she told some was trying to get inside her apartment through her window by breaking net/cage. She ran away from her apt due to fear and could not call police, Someone called 911 and police came in 10 minutes but by that time thief went away. Next morning we saw the net of window was nearly removed and we checked with lady policy have registered this case as genuine..so be aware at night times and watch out for your apt when you are not around cause anyone's apt can break in !! I feel good for the lady that nothing happened and nothing was taken away. Property management should install surveillance cameras at EXIT doors at least please... Thanks
