What a complete dump! Even the positive reviews on this site are full of complaints. These apartments are way overpriced and have not been updated since being built 20 years ago and the appliances inside are even older. The ----------------" type property manager with the--------------- has no clue what she is doing and relies on the maintenance manager to confirm any thoughts she has which doesn't help because this janitor is totally clueless himself and does not have standards set by this country. The maintenance staff here obviously learned repair from a Time/Life book collection and they can't even follow those directions because things in the units and common areas are constantly breaking and are not properly maintained. How would you like to have a repair completed in your apartment after 2 or 3 attempts and then have to clean up the mess that was just left by the staff. AMLI at Chevy Chase advertises themselves as a luxury community but the only luxury aspect is that they have a newly remodeled leasing office which is used as bait to lure new tenants in. DO NOT let this be a reflection of the rest of the community because once you're locked in as a tenant, you will be in the middle of a complete nightmare. Who really cares if there are 2 ponds and it's located next to a golf course, unless you plan on living outside. For a community that brings in close to one million dollars in rent checks per month plus over $100,000 in annual kick-backs from various vendors like Comcast, they do nothing what so ever for their existing tenants except make them feel like a burden when problems arise. They only put money into creating the illusion of luxury on the exterior. Meanwhile, there are spider and other bug problems inside the units, tenants are charged for water, common area electric, and garbage pick up, the maintenance staff is incompetant and rude, the property manager has no spine and can't think for herself, and most of the leasing agents are incompetant as well and never follow proper procedure when it comes to a work request or anything else. This is one of the only places that employees have ever told me "that's not my job", which for a place that charges over $1000 per unit is completely unacceptable. Only about 5% of the units have been updated in 20 years, which you'll pay a big premium for, and all have extremely poor sound and weather insulation and are built with the cheapest materials you can find. During the winter, you'll see that your heat will be kicking on every 5 minutes because of the drafts that come in through the patio doors and windows which in turn lead to a minimum of $100 gas bills to heat a measly 700 sq ft apartment. You'll also be constantly woken up by the tenants of your building coming and going at all hours of the night and day because the walls are paper thin, and you'll also get to enjoy cooking smells that pass straight through the walls and ventilation ducts. And if you plan on staying, God only knows why, be prepared for a minimum of a $50 monthly rent increase which forces most tenants to move out after just one year. But with everything I've just said, that's probably a good thing. By the way, along with that increase, you'll get a letter talking you into re-signing your lease because of all the money you'll save on moving supplies, a truck, boxes, and your time. Very helpful indeed! What complete pieces of trash.. Oh, and they're owned by Chase Bank which we all know what fair and friendly entities banks are!

Please, do yourselves a favor and find another place to rent. I'm so sick and tired of this place and it's employees that I'm ready to file a class action lawsuit for false advertizing, gross incompetance, and negligence. If anyone is interested in joining this class action, please contact me at amlilawsuit@gmail.com. All contacts will be kept confidential. If it makes you feel more comfortable, you can create a new email address for free on Yahoo just for the purpose of writing me anonymously. I would just like to hear other residents stories and see how they feel about this pathetically maintained and poorly managed community. Please, to all past and current tenants, lets not let ourselves continue to be abused because together we can make a difference!

I agree completly. I can not beleive the drafts that come in through the windows and patio doors. My appliances are EXTREMLY outdated. Not a luxury complex at all. Very high rent and no utilites are included at all. Stay away! I can't wait until my lease is up.

I am a previous tenant and I agree in all points!!! Not only the cooking smells are hard to stand the nasty stink from cigarettes is even worse! I really CANNOT RECOMMEND to sign a lease at AMLI

Seriously? I always am amused when tenants sit down and write posts like this in a fit of rage. Bottom line, if you don't like it, move out! I am a previous tenant and I had nothing but a positive experience at Chevy Chase for the two years I lived there. The grounds are beautiful and the maintenance guys all work hard and are always friendly. Did you tour the place before you moved in? Because if you did, you would have known that the apartments are 20 years old! What do you expect? Of course there will be maintenance issues! I have lived in 3 other apartment complexes, and every single one of them has had some maintenance problems. If you want silence, and perfect insulation, buy a house! Finding a quality apartment for under $1000 a month in Lake or Cook counties is very difficult, and Chevy Chase is on par with all of the other apartments I have visited/lived in in the area. Shame on you for not doing your research on the complex before you moved in. I did do it and knew what to expect, and was still completely satisfied with my experience there. It's an apartment! I also know that if I want brand new appliances and completely soundproof walls, I will be paying about $1400 a month for a newer complex, like the AMLI in Vernon Hills. I feel sorry for the staff who has to deal with tenants like you. The manager was never anything but pleasant to me and my family, and perhaps that's because I treated them all with respect too!

Management has investigated these allegations and believes they are being made by a disgruntled resident who himself has been the subject of many complaints. The allegations are inappropriate and offensive against individuals and they are untrue.

Management investigated what? Are you shitting me? That place is a dump for what you're paying for. Listen up people - Stonebridge village in arlington heights is cheaper, bigger and more updated, quieter and cleaner. Screw Amli.

It has nothing to do with not investigating the place before moving in. As I had said in my review, which was not this review here, they WERE nice BEFORE they got me to sign. As for moving, there's a big expense and hassle involved. I just wish I'd had something to read about the place like this before I moved in. I have to agree with the majority of this review, and you can rest assured - I do treat them with respect even though I don't get it in return, and I am NOT a resident that people complain about. That response about the management investigation sounds like the Amli staff trying to cover their rear ends. The detailed response from a 'prior' tenant also sounds fishy to me - why would you bother looking up a previous complex you lived at? Really Amli - at least take your lumps since you do deserve them.

I agree with the original post - the comment to "buy a house" if you want something with perfect insultation and sound proofing just shows the ignornace of the writer. Forget the cooking smells - at least they aren't dangerous - what about the cigerette smoke? I have asthma and can't breathe in my own apartment - my entire apartment and clothing stinks like stale cigerettes. The ventilation system is a joke. If the anti-smoking law pertains to hotel, which is a rental property, then why doesn't it pertain to apartments. The smoke from the rooms of those who smoke, infiltrates into the rooms of those of us who are non-smokers. And I agree - AMLI management has been known to post positive responses to those of us who are unhappy with the current living conditions....I can't wait to get out of here.

I am interested on joining the law suit. I just found out that they are possible in violation of a construction code. Check if you have an overflow pipe that actually works. I do agree with all the points on the original post. I am only staying here for the location nothing else. I do not move right now because of the penalty fee, I found many other options to live close by.
