I just read a pretty scathing review from a tenant and I couldn't agree more. For what we pay in rent (and yes, the $50 increases are common, we do have to pay through the nose above and beyond the rent for water, trash and 'administrative' fees, and the walls are paper-thin), you would think if you had an issue the office people could treat you like a human. They don't. Mostly they ignore you when you come in, unless you're recognized as wanting to see about leasing or are signing one. Then when they finally acknowledge you, you're made to feel like you're a bother when you have what's even an insignificant problem. I've lived at several other properties around the burbs, as close as Palatine, and have NEVER been mistreated as I am here. They'll tell you they pride themselves on their customer service. Yeah. They give no notice when they're doing work around here that's going to inconvenience you (or have to enter your apartment for some lame reason). Seriously, we were woken up at 7:30am one morning and told to move our cars because they decided to refinish the parking lot (guess we didn't get the notice they'd dropped off the night before). The property manager, well she's hopelessly ineffective - just talk to her and you'll find out for yourself. The maintenance manager has no concept of time, unless it's his agenda. Read the other review from the person who wants to sue this place. It's right on. Oh, and yes, you hear everyone else's plumbing and every move they make around you. Also, don't move here for the wildlife because they'll tell you not to feed the birds (yet they look the other way when people fish and leave fish hooks for people to step on and make loud noises outside your window). Forget about having doormats too - we were told we cannot have anything of ours in the hallway. You're their guest apparently, and they don't let you forget it. Well I say, forget them.
