Not bad but not great

I agree with previous reviews that maintenance does an amazing job. The apartments are spacious and the washer and dryer are full size which is nice. Other than that, I didn?t think it was worth the $1415 we paid for a 2br/2ba with den.

First of all, the location isn?t that great. It?s set at the tail end of an industrial park, which can make getting out in the morning kind of a pain. Also, you have to drive to get anyplace decent.

The pool is heated, which is good on cloudy days. But when it?s hot, it?s not refreshing to lay out and then swim in bath water. It?s also pretty dirty - hair wads and used bandaids are a pretty common sight.

Parking is another issue. Garages take up a lot of space, and while most people actually park their cars in them, there are those who use them for storage. There are also boats and campers taking up additional spaces, which isn?t supposed to be allowed. And if you come home after 6:00, be prepared to search for a spot.

The soundproofing is terrible. We lived beneath someone who walked so heavy you could hear the ceiling supports crack whenever she moved. Also, the hallways consistently reeked of cigarette smoke and/or stale food from cooking.

After we?d lived there for 1 1/2 years, we went to the office and noticed they were having rent specials for new tenants. Basically all of our neighbors were moving out, and the new tenants were paying about $200 less per month. If we wanted the new rate, we would have to move into a new unit. This is probably common among apartment complexes, but others in the area were lowering their rents across the board. It seems stupid that they would want to risk having long standing tenants leave (as we did) by not offering them rent breaks. At first we decided to downsize into a 2br/1ba which would have saved us more than $300 per month over what we were paying. So we got on the "preferred" list, giving the office a $200 deposit. They would then give us first choice over any vacant units. Of course that was a bust - they never called us, and when we called them, nobody seemed to know what was going on. They finally gave us a unit, we confirmed it with them about three times, and then they called back to say they rented it to someone else. By this time we were grateful because it inspired us to move.

If you?re there temporarily (as several of our neighbors were), it?s probably not bad. But for the long haul, I would look elsewhere.
