Nice place but expensive!

Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2004
I am a tenant who has been here a year. I wanted to share my thoughts on this complex.
Apartment: The walls keep most noise out. We can hear our neighbors alarm clock go off every morning and we had issues with our upstair neighbor blasting music during the first two months of tenancy (neither of which is managements fault). The bathroom in our unit is very small. The shower is right on top of the toilet but has a huge closet. The rooms are nice sized but the door enterances are small. We couldn't fit a crib or reclining chair through without breaking them down. The hallway is also a bit narrow. The living room is a little oddly shaped but has enough room to get around.
Management: There have had some changes in the last year. The representative who orginally leased this apartment to us is gone. They have had approx 4-5 other people in since her depature. With that said, the manager Kathy and her staff are very friendly, professional and quick to respond. We've had a few issues where we disagree with their decision but for the most part, they have been very accomidating.
Maintenance: Prompt to respond, the repairmen are professional, friendly and knowledgable. 98% of the work orders were completed within a day.
Property: Clean, well kept and the neighbors keep to themselves. The only issue is lack of lighting. The sidewalks were well kept last year but the parking lots were very ice and dangerous. There is a swimming pool but we never used it.
Who am I' I am a WF in my early 30's, married with a child less than a year old. I am college educated.
We are moving out in 3 weeks because we cannot afford the rent and all the utlities while trying to save for a home (You pay not only the rent but all the utlities as well: gas, electric, cable, phone, water, sewer & trash). We moved from another Amli property to Windbrooke so that we didn't have to pay the 2 month rent penalty that Amli has in their lease against a $400 moving fee. We knew that when moved to this property that we would be responsible for all the above utlities so it is not managements fault.
It is a nice place to live in general. Very nice area but the rent seems to be an issue to our other 2 neighbors who just moved out(each building has 4 units) as well. If Amli would pay some of the utlities, they would definitely keep their tenant base.
