I've lived here 5 years. I would rate this complex as Average. I haven't experienced most of the issues others have related. I haven't had to interact much with either management or maintenance, but when I have I found both to be friendly and courteous. I rarely had to make maintenance requests. The cooking smells are nightly and worse than I've experienced in other apartments. The hallways always smell of cooking onions and garlic. I've had noisy neighbors (music, video games late at night), and calls to management have taken care of the problem. The train tracks are very close and noise from trains can be very loud, especially during warmer months when the windows are open. While the tracks are considered "Quiet" (no horn blowing unless there is imminent danger), you can't quiet a diesel engine going by. Plus, long freight trains disrupt traffic on Deerfield Road quite a lot. The noise from the parking lot of the 24-hour manufacturing facility next door is the worst and it is one of the reasons I'm not renewing my lease. The factory employees love loud music. Very loud thumping and bumping can be heard from their cars when they take their breaks at 2 in the morning. Loud shouting in the parking lots when they get off work at 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Revving of engines. Honking horns. Trucks going through in low gear, heading to and from the loading docks at the back...setting off car alarms. The manufacturing "neighbors" next door are the worst, and unfortunately they're not tenants, so management can do nothing about it. If you rent, stay away from apartments on the East side of the complex. Interiors are average. Everything is pretty cheaply made. Cabinets, appliances, fixtures. They charge a lot for these apartments, but the quality isn't there. You can find better elsewhere. Rent DOES NOT cover the fees charged for water, sewer, garbage, and something called "Debt Retirement". I pay an extra $40 a month on top of my rent, so factor that into your fiscal planning. These extra fees are not mentioned in the lease, nor in any discussions with agents beforehand. I've never been charged extra to live in a complex, so I had no idea to ask about it up-front. It's not the worst I've lived in. But it's not the best either.
