This fall, we began our fifth year of residency at Saint Germain Square and our fourth year as "house parents." While teaching in the SIUC School of Music for nearly thirty years, we initially moved to SGS because of its close proximity to campus. While we have always sought out opportunities to support young people, we never imagined how gratifying our experience would be at Saint Germain Square.
We enjoy a wonderful relationship with the apartment owners and greatly respect their priorities. They are uniformly devoted to creating a safe and uplifting environment for their tenants and approached us about serving as their liason to the students. We are indebted to the owners for the financial support that allows us to serve Sunday brunches, holiday barbeques and food at finals which has become a great tradition at SGS. We enjoy many opportunities that we have to support our tenants and develop the friendly and supportive community for which SGS is now known.
Over a four year period, we have seen extraordinary improvements in staff, operation and the quality of life at Saint Germain. While we have written favorable reviews of SGS on previous occasions, we feel that at this point in time, we are enjoying the finest community of tenants and staff that we have experienced. It is a great feeling to know that our property manager and staff are qualified, dedicated and able to meet the responsibilities of their positions. Not only do we enjoy social activities with the tenants, we enjoy them as well with our staff at weekly meetings, luncheons and social activities.
In short, Saint Germain Square has become a supportive family of friends, ever changing and at this time, ever improving. In the foreseeable future, we anticipate many more years of residency at SGS and continuing the ways we can be helpful to the students as "house parents." It is gratifying to see that our apartment owners, present staff and community of tenants share a sense of this importance of community and the tangible ways it impacts favorably on the quality of all our lives.
