The whole truth - good, bad & ugly

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2008
I've lived here since new management took over and have only heard most of the horror stories from other residents, past residents and the previous reviews. I CAN attest to seeing some of what they had to run outta here - crackheads roaming the sidewalks, open drug-dealing, folks loitering in urine-smelling hallways, engine-dropping in the parking lot, etc.
There HAS been a slooooow, mass renovation of the property, due to some government funds that included the stipulation of making it a low-income, rent-subsidized property. They've re-paved part of the fall-in crater-heavy parking lot, there was a rediculously slow, multiple stage refurb of the entryways (months to paint, recarpet and tile a small space for four apartments), 30-degree weather window changing, roof repair, vinyl siding, etc.
It would be nice if my ceiling didn't need regular repairs of cracking, and even better if they would finally fix the "secure" entry system so I could buzz guests up instead of having to run down & let them in like I have for almost a year now.
They DO get points for finally getting me new kitchen appliances (after waiting months and burning food cuz the 1970's stovetop eyes overheated).
I have to take points though for the times the water has gone off with no warning (not an emergency, they just forgot to tell us), entering my apartment without notice to play with the outlets, the so-called Tennis court that would be nice to use if they would de-weed it, and the pool that could be better managed so we could do more than just look at it cuz someone's dumped something in it AGAIN, having to hope my car won't be the next one vandalized, over flowing dumpsters...you get my point.
The beautifully manicured lawns they show pictures of were run-through dirt piles and weeds long before construction crews started littering it with more garbage than what tenants leave. And finally, as for the tenants, for the most part I have no problems. Most of the apartments around me have well over the maximum allowance of people, and it's hilarious to watch the fence being torn down & repaired over and over again, but I feel somewhat safe, for what it's worth.
As for the wonderful staff, they hide behind the property owner like they have no power and just do as they're told, but that's a crock. And if you don't stay on them about what they've promised, they'll "forget". And FYI, if you think you might have an Inkling of financial bumps in your future, (i.e. lay off, check late in the mail, etc.) reconsider moving in. They LOVE tacking on late fees and talking down to you like you're 3 years old.
But hey, I'm still here, right' Trust, I'll be outta here on the first thing smokin' ASAP!!
P.S. I know it was a tremendous setback to have to deal with the microbrust situation from last spring, but we'd all be less critical if multiple problems hadn't existed LONG before that.
