DON'T MOVE IN HERE

The office staff are great salespeople - that's why we chose to live here in the first place. But they don't follow through on everything they promise. When we first moved in the caulking in our bathtubs wasn't done. We moved in on Saturday and the woman who checked us in told us it would be fine to shower. When the guy came on Monday to caulk them he said "No! That could get mold inside the walls!" And of course, after he caulks we're not supposed to use the shower for 72 hours! It took us a month after we moved in to get the lightbulb in the fridge replaced (the woman who checked us in took it and said someone would be out to replace it soon). It's a small thing, but we kept calling them to let them know it wasn't done. Finally, the apartment manager told me flat out that it was fixed and implied that I was lying. I insisted that I was the one living in the apartment and it had not been done. So she sent someone out again, and sure enough there was no light bulb in the fridge. They have a policy, in writing, on the wall of the office, that they will discount your rent for any issue that is not resolved or at least responded to within 24 hours. I asked about that and she said that she couldn't do it for this because in their system they showed that it had been taken care of within 24 hours of the original ticket!
Within a couple of weeks of moving in a crack was revealed in the outside corner of the master bedroom that had been painted over and wasn't visible when we walked through. That crack let cold air in all winter!
Once, our kitchen sink was backing up and there was foul smelling stuff slowly filling up the sink. We called the office and somebody told us a maintenance person would be right out. Several hours later nobody had showed up, so we called the emergency # and somebody showed up pretty quickly, but was then there until about 2am cleaning out the pipes, and they were in our master bathroom as well as the kitchen with this "roto-rooter" machine making lots of noise, so we couldn't really go to sleep!
We once got a package delivered by DHL that went to the office and was signed for by somebody there. I went to the office and the guy there said there wasn't anything there for us. We finally had to file a claim with the company that sent the package in order to get it replaced. 4 months later we got a notice that we had a package in the office. When I went in to pick it up it was the original package that was supposedly not there before!! It had been there all along!
One month (and only one) we delivered our rent check 1 day late because we had forgotten to take it over. They wouldn't accept our personal check, because it was late, despite the fact our checks had always been good before. They required we get a certified check from the bank, with the late fee included. I could understand that if we had a pattern of delinquency or checks bouncing, but for the first time, and then only because of a mistake (the check had been written on the 1st). There's just that general feeling of being disrespected by the management, and every time you try and get something resolved feeling like you're running into a brick wall. When you're talking with management to try and get something resolved, they don't listen to you and respond to what you say, they just keep repeating the same thing (usually whatever's in their favor) over and over and over until you finally give up.
Bottom line, we knew within a month that we weren't going to renew our lease at the end of the year, and we highly recommend that you not live here!
