My husband and I have lived in this complex for quite a few years, and we be moving out when our lease is up in May! I has been unreal how bad this apartment community has degraded since we moved in! It seems as if the level of competence has went down-hill as well as the over-all safety of the community. They installed "security boxes" on the apartment doors some time back which are supposed to require a key for tenants to enter, and for visitors to be "buzzed in." They have been of little use though, when I would estimate that 90% of the people here know the "secret code" that only employees of the complex are supposed to know to enter the buildings. There is also one building next to ours where the door does not even shut all the time, which allows for anyone to have access to the building, and ironically, it is the same building in which the manager of the complex lives!

The rules of the village and of the complex regarding the number of people living in a one or two-bedroom apartment are routinely ignored. There are numerous apartments that have 6 and more people living in a 2 bedroom apartment.

And most shockingly, there has been a sharp increase in the amount of drug and gang activity in the last few years. Even though there is supposed "security" that drives through the complex at night, it is nothing to see drug deals done openly here. There was one time that I was leave my apartment to run on an errand because there were several young men outside of my building, near my car smoking POT during broad daylight!

Please, for the safety of yourself and your family, DO NOT move into Yorktree!
