Lousy, overpriced apartments, bad mgt, etc.

In spite of the fact that I lived in this apartment complex for more than four years. I cannot recommend it at all. The problems were so many, I hardly know where to start. But to begin with, the apartments are unattractive, and are not well-maintained. There is primarily one maintennence person, who is always friendly, and appears to be hard working. BUT -- there is way, way much more that needs to be done than can be accomplished by the meager work force employed by the place. Consequently, they did almost no repairs, even though things kept breaking, and did not clean, renew or replace anything in the place during the entire four plus years I was there. This was true even though I had an ancient stove which was ugly and barely functional, sliding glass doors which were in horrible shape, let wind through and wouldn't open sometimes, an air conditioner (window, not central) which was also ancient and barely working, etc. As another former resident cmplained, the heat is always on, making it unbearably warm -- except, of course when the heat is BROKEN, which happened several times in mid-winter. And air conditioning' Forget about it. Hardly works, and they won't repalce it. Speaking of which, the management is, at best uncaring and woefully inadequate, and at worst, rude, incompetent, and uncooperative. As another former resident mentioned, the bathrooms are really small, with a small, ugly, worn, cabinet for storage, and,(in my case at least)with mismatched appliances. The water pressure was terrible, as well as the temperature. Laundry facilities are bad, expensive to use, and in an unattractive (perhaps dangerous, even) dark, dirty, gloomy part of the basement. The roof of the building I lived in got replaced at one point, and the roofers left a huge mess of shingles, nails, etc. on my balcony. There are so many small details which were annoying, such as hardly any outlets, ugly, dark carpeting, very little counter space in the kitchen,no dishwasher, thin walls with lots of noise from neighbors, bad security, poor lighting, inconvenient, inadequate parking, and so forth, but I?ll stop here. Hope you don?t live here and have to find out for yourself.
It?s also true that there are eviction notices up on doors constantly. I received some personally, because if your rent is not paid by the fifth of the month, they stick a very nasty eviction notice on your door -- prominently, for all to see. I?m not talking about a reminder or a polite request, these things are nasty. Many doors have those notices on them with frequency.
And watch out, they seem to like to tow cars.
I am now living in another apartment complex, for a slightly higher rent, but not much higher. The difference between the two places is like NIGHT AND DAY!!!!!!!!!111
Now that I have a basis for comparison, I can?t believe I actually stayed in that horrible place for so long.
Friends of mine were also appalled by Oak Knoll. They kept telling me that other places were much, much better, but I could not imagine how much better until I moved. The only reason I stayed for so long is that it was convient for me at the time, plus I was not really there all that often because of travelling.
I would very much advise against moving here.
