I am a senior in high school graduating soon. I'm going to be attending Parkland College in 2008. I plan on living in the new 88 west apartments. Last year I visited them quite frequently. While I was there, I only witnessed 1 fight. This was because of a large, extremely large party. I got to sleep with no problem on a SATURDAY night. Let's be clear that the room I stayed in was on the second floor. Also - the apartments are BEAUTIFUL. take care of it, and you won't need to worry about slow maintenance. On one occassion the washer was spewing out water, because of my idiot friend who broke it. the washer was fixed the next morning. When i went in and signed my lease the workers were very organized and helped me with any questions i had. i was given a tour. i saw people outside but NO ONE climbing the building. and i viewed an apartment with a renter, and it was just fine on the inside. please - give 88 west a BREAK.

Of course they were nice to you! They were getting you to sign the lease! And do you think they would really show you an apartment that was torn up??? That would just be dumb on their part. I'd like to hear your opinion again in six months.

You summed it up when you said: "While I was there, I only witnessed 1 fight. This was because of a large, extremely large party". Welcome to just another day at 88 West.

88 West is an awful place to live. I lived there for over 2 years, because of convenience. During the last year, I witnessed a fight out in the parking lot right by my car. A group of guys got one guy on the ground, and surrounded them. They proceded, with a running start, to stomp on the guy's head on the concrete parking lot. Maintenance is awful. We(my roommate and I), put in requests several times which were never answered. If you get a furnished apartment, good luck with that. The quality of the tables are awful. They glass looks nice, but the wooden structures that are holding them up are TERRIBLE. Our coffee table fell apart, and there was no way to fix it ourselves. We put in a maintenance request for that at least 4 times, and no one came to fix it. It sat leaned up in the corner of the dining area for over a year. Move out is another story. As I had previously stated, I lived there for over 2 years. They charged me for painting the walls, and other normal wear and tear "problems". 88 West went through SEVERAL management staffs during the time that I was there. Overall, I would say that 88 West is very disorganized. Don't get me wrong, the apartments look very nice at first, especially the one that you get the tour of. Once you live there, you realize the cheap materials that were used to make them. Anyone who is reading this: DO NOT LIVE AT 88 WEST. You will regret it.
