Bankier is simply terrible. They have tried to evict me, although I had make ALL of my payments on time, simply because my roommate (who does not live in the apartment) did not make his payments. They sent me multiple threatening e-mails (that lacked any sort of courtesy) telling me it was MY responsibility to pay for all the rent of an apartment that was only half mine (there are two names on the lease). Their lack of respect and terrible customer service aside, I believe they only have janitors come around about once every other month to clean. Between those months, except your hallways and corridors to smell, be littered with garbage, broken glass, etc. Also, do not ever expect to be safe in your apartments. Just two days ago, my car was broken into in the PARKING GARAGE, and my valuables (wallet, camera) stolen. I was hoping that there would be some sort of security cameras or anything of the sort, but, of course there aren't. So basically, don't expect your car/property to be safe on Bankier grounds. My apartment has severe water damage that has destroyed a portion of the wall and ceiling, but they haven't ever found the time to fix that. There is also high amounts of mold circulating in the apartments. This is not just my apartment but also my two neighbors. Leave anything out for more than a day and expect it to be covered in mold. The laundry is also always broken, expect to have your laundry done somewhere else. Elevator usually works 2 days out of the 7, but that can be blamed on the tenants who mess around with it, very annoying however.

Long story short, Bankier only cares about your money and whether they are getting it or not. They do not respect nor do they care for you or your property. I have forewarned you.

UPDATE: here is a news article in the Daily Illini about an armed robbery (totally independent of my incident) that happened in the same parking garage.

Uh.. if you were with any other apartment complex, they would also expect you to pay the FULL amount of the apartment. SO what if you already paid your half? When you sign a lease, you are responsible for ALL of the rent.. however you work it out between you and your roommate. that's why I lived alone.

It sounds like you never read your lease, and ended up living in a complex with a bunch of equally clueless people. Why would you leave valuables in your car, parking garage or not? Champaign and most other university towns have really high theft rates. If you aren't grown up enough to understand everything involved when you sign a legally binding agreement, please stay in the dormitories where you'll be babied and sheltered from the real world.

since i wrote this review, there was another car broken into. if you look at the facts of the situation, it is clear to see Bankier simply does not care for their tenants. a simple 200 dollar video camera system wouldve been enough to deter or even catch these criminals who REGULARLY break into vehicles in the garage. the LEAST that could've been done is for bankier to even put up signs that says that the garage is under video surveillance. and yes, the above poster is correct... i went to an attorney and they said it is implied split agreement 50/50 and that i would win my case in a court of law. understanding that, i think it was unnecessary for bankier to go after me when my roommate is legally responsible for the unpaid portion... however it is easier to just go after the responsible tenant for the money than the irresponsible one for bankier. i believe that bankier should have atleast given me some sort of leeway on this situation, as i know other landlords who have allowed unpaid fees larger than mine slide for a lot longer. based on my experiences with bankier, i posted a review for people to see, and if you end up in situation where bankier is trying to screw you over, don't come whining to me because i have warned you
