Barr has to be by far the worst real estate company in Champaign IL. Barr takes pride in taking advantage of UofI students with their dishonest antics and incompetent service. Barr recently replaced some of the heaters in the Arbor apartments on campus (where I cureently reside) that are ancient might I add. Barr put a note on my door saying that they will be doing some minor work on the heating unite in which they specified a specific date. When the men came to work they cut an 8 foot hole in the wall which dispersed saw dust all over the apartment. There was dust all over my bed, clothes, laptops, tv's, and all other items that were in my apartment. The workers agreed that their actions were not just to the tenants but somehow Barr management didn't seem to agree. I had to call and threaten Barr on numerous ocassion until they final had a cleaning crew come to clean in which they did a terrible job. I then took my garmets to be cleaned at the cleaners in which bar said they would provide me with a $167 check to pay for it. When I came to pick it up they told me that they would give me a "rent credit." Seeing as how I am a starving grad student and I recently paid off my rent for the year I just didn't have $167 laying around. Now I am unable to retrieve my belongings thanks Barr. It has been a week and there is still workers in my apartment daily working on the whole. This was never stated in the intial notification that was placed on my door and all this could have easily been prevented if Barr put their tenants first instead of trying to find ways to cut corners. Before I log off I wanted to make a statement about the old lady that works at the Barr office. This lady to begin with, gave me the incorrect apartment when I first signed the lease and continues to have a funky attitude with everyone who comes into the leasing office. I have spoken with mulitple leasors of Barr and they feel the same way. This lady needs to "pull the stick out" and retire because Ibelieve she's the main source of Barr's problems other then the fact that the properties are old and outdated.
