Years at this apartment: 2000 - 2004

Have rented from CPM for 4 years now and after this last year I have HAD IT.

Lived at 1102 E Colorado for 2 years. First year was great, quiet neighbors had no problems besides the fact that CPM would not fix anything and if they did they did a half ass job of it (painting over water damage etc..). 2nd year of living here all of our neighbors that moved in partied every weekend. our neighbors on one side had cats AND ants all over the place. the urine smell from the cat piss was so bad I could smell it through the walls.

Now we move on, I moved across the parkinglot to 1806 S Cottage Grove Ave thinking hey, new building, higher rent, it will be better. I HAVE NEVER BEEN MORE WRONG. been here for 2 years now because I didnt have a chance to move last summer. There was a shooting here in the building about 3 months ago. People have parties all of the time its constant noise & yelling in the parking lot. People piss in the elevator. and YES, even a STOOL in the hallway. The building was never even completed. The list goes on..

When I moved into this BRAND NEW apartment I found the window wide open in one of the bedrooms and the latch to close it was missing. Gnats & bugs were everywhere and it took them a week to come and fix it. I couldn't even use the room and then they didnt even clean up the mess.

(let me also add in that out of the 3 apartments I have rented from them, none have been cleaned before OR after I moved in but I will still charged for cleaning when I moved out).

They come by the first of every month and leave a note taped to your door that basically says they can be by any time day or night for the next 30 days to show your apartment. If you don't let them in they are rude and if you dont get to the door fast enough they let themselves in. They also bring large groups of people through your apartment on a DAILY basis if it is close to the end date of your lease. You sign your lease in August for 1 year, in October they tell you that you have to resign for another year after that or they will lease out your apartment if you want.

Who decides what they are doing a year in advance after living in an apartment for only 2 months'

They will do NOTHING about ANYTHING you call them for. Noise complaints' Yeah right, they say to call the police and after 3 reports they get evicted. I know for a fact I & one of my neighbors have called the police about some people upstairs over 7 times in the last 4 months!! I called up CPM to complain AGAIN and they told me that I had to go and get the police reports from the county clerk and bring them to CPM. Isn't that their job''

They never clean the building and they raised our rent this year so we pay more money to live in a noisier dirtier building that isnt even safe.. drug dealing & shootings and if you want out of your lease''' forget it. beware before signing any lease, in illinois you have almost NO rights as a tenant.

There is also NO guest parking, if your guests park in the parkinglot they will get towed.
