Our apartment was FILTHY when we moved in. Walls almost black in some places from previous renters leaning on walls in bed and touching walls with feet while sitting at their desk. It was only about 2 or 3 years old when we moved in, but the walls were already cracking, and our balcony door barely opened. There were large gaps between the window sills and the dry wall. There was an open electrical box with exposed wires in one of the bathrooms. There was a breeze from the windows even when they were closed and locked. It was clearly very shoddy construction. We just got our deposit back (which I will be disputing with them this week). We were charged for things that I either personally cleaned myself or that I paid professionals to clean. We had a massive silverfish infestation. I was home and awake only about 2 to 3 hours everyday, and was killing 10-15 of these bugs EVERY day. I informed management & they did send someone out. However, the areas that needed spraying the most were not sprayed. So it decreased the amount of bugs I was killing per day down to about 5-7. Unfortunately, the bugs were in my stuff, so they have also followed me to my new apartment. The only way I can think of to get rid of the damn things is to throw everything I own away the next time that I move. Terribly dissatisfied with my experience!
On a side note, I believe this company to be one of two things. They are either a)owners of too many properties compared to number of maintenance staff or b)dishonest & "slick". I was charged fees from my deposit to paint/fix walls in the apartment. I have no way of proving this, but I am sure that they charged the previous renters for the same. That was very clearly not done nor even attempted before we moved in. I would love to see the condition of my old apartment now. If they haven't actually painted it, then I don't think they should be able to charge me for it.

Same thing happened to me. We were charged $130 for painting and the property manager told us that the apartment had a complete paint job before we moved in and that we didn't clean anything before we moved out (which we did). Lucky for us, I had a copy of my move in report where we clearly stated the apartment needed painting in more than one area. We got the $130 back, but there was no way to prove we actually cleaned the other stuff.
