Let me start by saying that I am a very particular person and I disagree with most of the negative comments. I have lived in country fair apts. for 9 months and it basically comes down to, "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!!" No, they are not the best apartments and No they are not the worst. I live on the middle floor and yes it does get hot in the summer, since there is only one wall air conditioner in the living room and the air does not circulate to the back room(s.) However, in the winter time my heat worked fine. Yes, I would have to turn it up to 85 degrees, but who cares since I wasn't paying the heat bill!!! The heat is dry heat, so it gets stuffy but with the power company tripling their rates, I'll make the concessions. (By the way this is the only place in town that pays heat, water, trash, and sewer) The maintenance people do a good job of keeping the property up; which I'm sure can be a challenge since there are like 400 apartments. The landscaping is nice. They just put up a new playground and the swimming pool is well kept in the summer months. The residents are pretty diverse and stay to themselves, but are friendly. MY ONLY MAJOR PROBLEM IS PARKING. Everyone gets home at the same time which is directly after work, so if you stop off to run errands you will more than like have to make a hike from one of the other parking lots. As for "the neighborhood, these people making comments are obviously not used to people that do not look like themselves. All I can say is that these people do exist, but they mind their own business, and as long as you re not out roaming the streets at questionable hours of the night you should be ok.

You obviously are good at making assumptions. FYI I live on Kenwood and have NEVER heard gun shots (and I spend a lot of time at home.) I'm from a large city and know what gun shots sound like, and I can honestly say that I've NEVER heard any--not even once! Another FYI, I checked crime statistics with the Champaign Police Dept. before I moved here and the Detective that I spoke with showed me a break down of crime for this area which was LOW (the numbers may have seemed high to an ignorant person b/c this is a busy, high populated area; but in comparision to other areas similar in size, it was a cake walk!) So, I have educated myself and suggest you revaluate your assumptions.
