Overall this was a nice place to live. The water and the heat are free. The windows are a little drafty but since the heat is free you can turn it up if you get a little chilled. You can literally take a shower for hours and never run out of hot water!! The residents are a mix from graduate students to small families and some older folks. The grounds are absolutly gorgeous. There is actual grass! Its park like in places. There is a tennis court, pool, and a small play ground for children. Maintenance was always prompt in address any problems I might have. The ceilings/floors are thin so if you have someone above you, you will hear them walk from time to time, especially if they have hardwood floors. I've never heard any sounds coming through the walls. The air conditioner is a wall unit and as such comes with all the problems that implies. This is not a high crime area, although there is some lower income apartments not too far away. I can't help but wonder if some of the acidic reviews are coming from spoiled kids from chicago. Parking is ample, although speed bumps are annoying. Staff is helpful and friendly but not so much so you want to puke. They do spray the apartments for pest periodically and every so often they make you clean out all your cabinets so they can do so. This i the biggest annoyance of all. Rent goes up every year by 5-10 dollars, sames as many other places. Bus stop very near by, grocery stores and banks are also close. Its a 3 mi drive to the UofI. you can take the bus too but that might take up to 30 min depending on the route. I paid about $35 a month for power, very resonable. They give free 'cable' this is really only very basic cable with about 13 channels, but the discovery channel was one of them so I was very happy. The washer and dryer unit are in the building and take quarters, but not in the apartment unfortunatly. There is limited additional storage in each building but i've never used it. There are picnic talbes and grills available for use on the grounds.
