The University Group poorly installed our main door in the late fall. It let in all sorts of cold air and we needed to run the heat for days/weeks to keep it liveable. They ignored our multiple requests and office visits to have our newly-installed door fixed. Finally we reported them to the UIUC Tenant Union. They visited the University Group and demanded it be fixed. The manager there got angry that we had reported them and visited our apartment. In response to our report, they decided one of the bedrooms was too messy, and gave us 10 days to clean it, or else be evicted. We cleaned it thoroughly and visited the office. The manager spoke with us about it and referred to our situation with them as "a game". "If you guys stop reporting us, then we'll stop causing problems for you", said the manager. He continued "We're down to only 4 or 5 complaints per year, we use to have about 20. We don't need any extra ones. We're proud of our progress".
