The University Group is a terrible landlord. I paid for a parking stall, only to have my car towed a few days later because University Group had given the exact same stall to two other people. Poor record keeping on their part. They also rip you off with the cleaning charges so renters beware! They would never meet with me to check me out, no time of day was good for them. So after cleaning the apartment I moved out, only to be charged $50 for cleaning (plus an additional $50 for carpet cleaning). When management (Cindy) was pressed for answers as to what was left dirty and why was I charged for cleaning, I was informed I didn't clean behind the refridgerator!! Give me a break! I have filed a written complaint with photos to the Champaign-Urbana Tenant Union. But since I did not have a condition report in writing at the time of check out I'm stuck. Management (Cindy) was rude, uncooperative, and unprofessional. Don't expect any assistance from the management. They only want your money, and will even make up charges to keep your security deposit. Check out other complaints in their file at the Tenant Union very interesting reading!
