Great apartment, very few problems

Your experience here will depend on what kind of apartment you get. If you get the smallest apartment, it will be very small with a teeny kitchenette. If you're willing to spend a bit more, you can get a large apartment with a very large kitchen, particuarly for a studio. Some of the apartments face the alley, which of course, is loud and a bit creepy. But like my apartment, it faces a quiet side with a view of the Hancock Building, and is very sunny and nice. Basically, you get what you pay for.

The one bedrooms here are very large and a great value for this very overpriced area. They have large galley kitchens, a dining area, living room, and bedroom with mirrored closet doors. The large studios are also very nice.

There is no dishwasher, but there is countertop room to buy a countertop dishwasher. Also, one of the past reviews complained about air conditioning rental. Be smart and just buy your own window air conditioner at Walmart. I have lived here for 3.5 years, and my window unit works just fine, and they even install it and take it out for free. They will also paint your apartment for free, when you provide the paint. They will also varnish the wood floors for free. They are constantly cleaning the lobby and hallways so they are always clean and neat.

The walls here are concrete. Unless someone is absolutely outrageously loud, you won't hear your next door neighbors.

This is the Gold Coast and there is no parking. If you're planning on moving to this area or this building, you may as well sell your car. There is PLENTY of public transportation within 2 blocks of this place. If you must have a car, you can rent out a space in the area in a more expensive building, for $150-200/month.

The management here is terrific. If you have a maintenance problem, they will usually come within that day, and the maintenance man lives in the building. Everyone is very kind and helpful. There is a building gathering at Christmas where they pay for a dinner buffet and games at Dave and Busters. It is basically a very quiet, well-maintained, safe building.

If you are looking for the most modern, perfect place ever, then you will never be satisfied. But if you're looking for a nice, quiet, well-maintained building, a nice vintage apartment, and a fantastic neighborhood next to everything, then this is your place.
