Horrible townhomes

These places are old and fall apart. We took a 5 month lease because that is what we needed. The only place to offer us one. They had just put in a new carpet, but did not really vacuum it before we moved in and it continued to totally shed until we moved out. Here were the major problems:
Cabinet doors fell off - the kitchen is a nasty POS - we had to put contact paper on all of the bottoms of the cabinets
Dishwasher basket kept collapsing-wheels are missing
Pipes clogged up and we could not use our kitchen sink for a weekend. They finally gave in and called a plumber and then they said it was not their fault when I complained. Don't plumbers work on weekends' Don't they work 24 hours' Fix it.
Water pump broke twice made brown water come out when the hot was on and my kids bathed in it. It makes a knocking noise next to our bedroom when it is broken.
Mosquitos everywhere! They flew into our place one morning and I used packing tape to block off windows and doors. I killed like 50 inside. They said it happens every year. There were thousands all over the front door. They did NOTHING about this. In fact I sprayed outside of my door and outside of the main door for them. The maintenance guy came by and swept up all the dead mosquitos from my front door.
I got crushed in the elevator. Luckily it was me and not my kids and I walked away with a spained wrist. However, we live on the 1st floor and hear people stuck in the elevator at least every other day. Why don't they call in a professional and have the electronics replaced or reprogrammed. You would think that the city would have a line for complaining about things like this.
They said their was parking in the building and then we moved in and they put us down the street because all of a sudden it was gone. We complained enough that it was resolved in two weeks by giving us a guest spot permanently.
The AC went out in the whole building for about 8 hours on a 90 degree day. I guess that is not really their fault, but to me their is a culture of when it breaks fix it, not preventing it from breaking in the first place.

To their credit, the maintenance staff is very nice and realitively responsive. However, they are not plumbers, exterminators, AC repairmen. They hesitate to invest any money in anything. The woman who runs the building is not super nice either. She is very defensive and instead of wanting to help and empathizing she acts like it is not her problem. A couple of the door ladies are nice. Some of the others act like it is a big deal for them to push a button to let you in.

Lastly, the thermostats are hard to control and you ultimately don't have control of the heat or ac. If the ac is on, you can control it. If the heat is on, you can control it by turning it up or down on a dial. However, if the heat is on and you want cold, it does not work and vice versa. Can be difficult at night in the spring or fall when it goes from 60 to 80.
