Apparently, 1260 will rent to anyone. I had a crazy neighbor who would let himself into my apartment whenever I took the trash out and I would walk back in to find him sitting on my bed. This old guy was violent and scary. I talked to my other neighbors and found out that he had just moved in and had been harassing everyone on the floor and in the building. When I spoke to management they refused to help and told me to call the police. After 3 people on my floor had called the police I finally called them when I found him in my apartment again. The police arrested him after he had assaulted a female officer. He was back by 5 a.m. The management refused to do anything. I moved. This is a crappy and expensive apartment building. I can't think of any reason to move here unless you are down on your luck and want to live in a flop house in the middle of the gold coast.

Never heard about the incidents and I'm not surprised. I hope that guy has been evicted from the building. There are more security breaches that the tenants are unaware of.

I'm sorry this happened as I'm sure it was upsetting but you live in Chicago not po-dunk Iowa. As a responsible city-dwelling adult you should know to lock your door even if you're going five steps to the trash chute.

A secure building should be just that - secure. Management that refuses to address a tenant who has demonstrated that he's an unsafe resident is ridiculous. Even someone like me from "po-dunk Iowa" knows that you should feel safe inside a secure apartment building, and not anticipate your neighbors finding their way into your apartment uninvited.
