This building has been taken over sometime in 2007 I believe. Since then, they've redone the lobby, redone the sundeck furniture, redone the lounge, and redone the computer lab, among other things. The place looks nicer and helps justify the price tag now.
The building is in one word: convenient. Very close to the el, has a small gym, free internet, heat, and a/c, dry cleaners in the building, walk to work. Yeah, the door staff doesn't do much -- but what exactly do you want them to do besides hand you your packages and open the door' As for management, they are very responsive - always call back the same day. I haven't had any issues with my unit, but there are several engineers around -- i think at least one lives in the building.
My actual apartment is a studio, which could use some updating -- carpet (which seems to have seen better days) and white appliances. For what I pay though, it seems ok.
I will complain about the parking garage that is attached to the building! For $200 a month, you don't get a guaranteed spot. THe building is close enough to downtown that tons of non-residents park there and could care less if they scratch up your car. The turns in the garage are kinda narrow with blindspots and this is definitely worsened when tons of ppl "park" in areas that aren't spots and block the turns. Also, the garage is filthy so your car always needs to be washed. Management of the parking garage does nothing to address the issues.
