You can find better for less

This was my first apartment in Chicago, so I didn't know that $940 a month was waaaaay too much for a very small one-bedroom. The apartment itself was okay, but it overlooked an alley full of dumpsters that were emptied at 6:00am every morning. There are several restaurants in the plaza next door that also use the alley, and the delivery boys frequently block poeple in. The intersection is also a lot noisier than you might expect; you can't make a left onto Clark from Fullerton, and when people try you end up with dozens of cars laying on their horns. The grocery stores in the area are also overpriced. Parking is a nightmare: I was paying $175 a month for a space, and someone still hit my car in the lot. And when I wanted to extend my lease one month to give myself time to find a new place, they charged me a bogus $100 "lease-extension fee". In summary, you could be paying a lot less for a lot more.
