I have only lived there for months and am very unhappy. The leasing office was nice before I signed the lease telling me that everything was going to be "fixed" or "replaced". When I moved in everything was dirty. I know this is an old building but things should be at least be somewhat clean.

There are some shady characters that live in this building. There is also a problem with people opening their doors and smoking into the hallway. I have also seen the doors left wide open on the first floor, which is a safety issue.

I'm not really sure of their pet policy since I don't have one but I have seen dogs in the building. All of the apartments seem too small for pets since the building is only studios and small one bedrooms.

The power and plumbing is pretty bad. The emeregency number listed in the handbook is also just an answering machine. The elevator also really creeps me out.

You can find a place cheaper that is bigger and nicer.

Needless to say, I will not renew my lease. I have heard very bad things about TLC management as well.

I'm the new property manager as of 12/1/07 and would like to respond to some of these statements. While I'm manager things will be a little different. The building is clean. The carpets are vacuumed and cleaned regularly. The pest control company comes out every month and puts non-toxic pesticides in every unit. There is not, and has never been a pest problem. Any resident will tell you that. As for issues with the package room and homeless people, we are installing four new cameras that record for 30 days. One facing the alley, one facing the package room, one on the front door, and one in the elevator. Homeless people are always an issue in the big city we have been working with the police to make sure the area is as safe as possible. I believe the cameras will further this effort. Anyone who knows the City will tell you Lincoln Park is one of the safest and nicest neighborhoods in Chicago. As for shady characters in the building, every resident undergoes a criminal background check. An arrest for DUI will fail you. There are no dogs allowed in the building, and someone bringing one in violates their lease and can be evicted. As for emergencies, we have one of the best policies around. Our building engineers are on call 24/7. We do have an answering service, but it's not a machine. You speak with a receptionist who takes the message and then contacts the engineer directly. If they cannot be contacted there are a series of backups until eventually the President of the company would be notified. As for being more expensive and smaller than the competition, you are paying to be near downtown, in a great, fun, and safe neighborhood, across the street from Lincoln Park. Management holds office hours seven days a week but we are not always in the office. We can however be contacted during these hours with additional representatives at our downtown office. puts non-toxic

See how building management lies!! "There are no dogs allowed in the building, and someone bringing one in violates their lease and can be evicted." It's advertised as a dog friendly building on TLC Property managements website. Also I know of a resident in another property who was evicted because he got his third DUI and lost his job! Why didn't the criminal background check that"An arrest for DUI will fail you" on catch the other two. And the the third lie is the monthly non toxic pest control in each unit occurs once a year. The only truthful thing on this review is the comment on -------!! Cheers! Enjoy life don't move into this place!

I have lived there for 2 yrs and there are no dogs allowed in the building. And really I am sad that ------- is no longer a manager at this building. Things went down the hill after she left....
