This is my first apartment in the city. I've been here for 4 months now and I love almost everything about the apartment.

The staff has always been very polite and helpful, even delivering packages into my apartment upon request when I could not get to the office before they closed. They've never gone into my apartment w/out my approval and request, so I'm not quite sure what that other person was talking about'

The building is older, but has been well-kept. It has been so well kept, in fact, that they are currently filming a new Universal Studios premier picture in the building. I think that alone speaks volumes about the character and quality of the building.

There were a few items that needed fixed before I moved in, but all but one were complete upon my move-in. The last was fixed within 1 week of my being here. There have been a few maintenance issues since I've been here (hot water going out), but all were fixed ASAP.

I think the laundry room was recently renovated. All of the machines are card-fed, brand new, and the room is very clean. There's also a table where people place items they no longer need/want and are available for people to take (e.g. books, videos, magazines, etc.).

The only thing I have a complaint about is that you can sometimes hear people talking in the hallway as they walk past the door. I believe this could be alleviated if the gap at the bottom of the door was closed with a plastic strip (or something to that effect).

Overall, I really enjoy living here and believe that I made a great decision on my move to the building!

Hi, I am currently living in another apartment on Surf Street with a HUGE roach problem. I am interested in moving here because I love the area, but was wondering if anyone else had any recent experiences to share. The reviews are mixed but most are a little older, so I was hoping to get some more recent info. Mostly I am concerned with bugs- if you live here, do you have a bug problem??? PLEASE PLEASE respond... I need to move out of my roach infested apartment NOW!

I currently live on the 9th (top) floor and have seen 2 dead roaches, but never a live one in the 18 months I've lived here. When the radiators went on this fall, however, we had a week of GIANT centipedes, and I do mean giant. Large enough you could see spots on their legs across the room. Ick. That lasted a week and I haven't seen them since. I've had the exterminator come a couple times a year since I moved in just to keep things bug-free, and according to our very chatty bug man, EVERY building within a half mile of the lake has a roach problem, some worse than others, and lower floors more than top floors. So, I guess I may be lucky because I live high up. The exterminator says he's been with our building a few years and doesn't see many roaches and never above the 3rd or 4th floor. From what you say, I think it could be a lot worse. What building are you in??
