Biggest One Bedroom for the Price

I've lived at 425 for 18 months now and I would agree with most negative points made by previous posters; this building is old and thus plaster walls vs. drywall, the staff in the front office can be rude, and they expect you to pay your rent on time. That last point is a "duh," I can't imagine what type of person finds that to be an issue. In addition, the rent you pay is VERY reasonable for the neighborhood and size/quality of the apartments. I live on the top floor, and unlike a previous poster, do not have a problem with bugs. I find that the office staff may be short at times but provide responsive service; I have never waited more than a day for an issue to be addressed. In addition, they have ALWAYS provided notice when they needed to enter my apartment. The new guy in the office, Chuck, is extremely approachable (don't know what that last reviewer did to upset him, Chuck is the nicest leasing agent/front office guy I've ever dealt with!)
There is a TON of great stuff about this building. Most importantly, it's an awesome looking place. Management has really maintained the exterior and front lobby. It's always a pleasant place to come home to. There is a small workout room with a few old but serviceable machines, a large laundry room considering the number of units (I think I've waited for a machine twice), and the apartments are enormous. My one bedroom is about 850sf with giant, new and well insulated windows. The rooms all have a nice layout, and the kitchen is huge for a 1br apartment. This building wowed on my first visit, and is still an extremely nice place to come home to. Many of my friends are jealous...lots of people pay this amount for a much smaller place.
Could the walls be stripped and repainted' Yes. Could the wiring be updated' Could the hallways be brighter' Sure. Overall, though, 425 gives you an awesome home for the price, with decent amenities and a responsive staff. It's on a great quiet one way street in a busy and entertaining neighborhood. I'd definitely recommend it.
