-Dog friendly is the last thing that can be used to describe this building. We were fined a total of over $1500 in the two years we lived here, for our dog barking on 3 occasions. That's $500 a pop! The only time we disputed the write up, we were ridiculed by the condo board and denied even a reduction in the fine. It seems that the building's residents consist of bitter octogenarians, who make and enforce unreasonable rules, just to amuse themselves.
-Elevator service in this building is scandalous. In two years, the total time during which all three elevators worked, cannot have exceeded 6 months. They kept spending thousands on maintaining ancient machines. I sure was glad, I didn't own here.
-The building staff, with the exception of two, were incompetent, unwilling to go the extra mile and at times, very rude. They didn't recognize us for months after moving in and kept requesting our IDs to open the front door!
-Parking is an absolute nightmare, if you intend to park on the street. Parents who come to pick up their kids from the school next door, double and triple park their SUVs, blocking parking spots and traffic, twice a day, if not more often. Also the manor houses that line Hawthorne Place consider the street their property and post parking bans throughout the year for yard work, fence maintenance, garden parties and polo matches (OK, that last one is not true). Finally, since the Haw. Plc. is not a permit street, you can forget finding a spot when the Cubs are playing.
-The renter\owner segregation is obvious in daily life. Most owners see and treat renters as second class people. One owner stopped returning my greetings, after learning I was a renter!
-Was everything bad' No. The dry cleaner in the building was very convenient. You can't beat the location. The view is nice if you live high-up, facing north. The pool was nice, if you're willing to put up with crazy rules, again! That's about it.
If you are under the age of 70, and don't intend to spend your days in your apartment with your mute poodle, avoid this place.

I LOVE IT! That place was and always be a dump! You hit the head on the nail with the old folk residence. It was like living in a nursing home there! The elevators never were fully or safely operating when I was there either. The management continues to blame other past owners instead of fixing it themselves and reducing the risk of the safety of its tenants.
