Overpriced

I moved into this building after having only a few hours to visit Chicago and find an apartment. The apartment was functional, but much smaller and more expensive than other apartments in the neighborhood (as I came to find out later). It was also very noisy. The building next door is very close and the sounds from every apartment echo off the building walls -- so there is never a quiet moment. This is especially annoying since the building next door allows pets, which meant that I had to listen to barking dogs whose owners left them inside small apartments everyday. Additionally, even though I lived on the third floor, I was woken up every morning by people going to their cars in the garage located between the two buildings. Besides noise, I aslo had a problem with the building management barging in whenever they wanted. They started to show my apartment about three months before my lease was up. I completely understand the need to find another tennant and, at every other building I have lived at I have happily complied with my landlord's request to visit. However, the management at this building never gave notice about when they were stopping by. On several occassions, the manager just unlocked the door and walked in with prospective tennants without even knocking first. Once, this even happened when I was in the shower. I called out from the bathroom and told them to leave (which they did), but the next day I got an angry phone call from my manager saying that they had a right to show my apartment whenever they wanted. They should have been apologizing to me! Not to mention the fact that they were breaking the law by entering my apartment whenever they felt like it...
There are some pros (namely, friendly maintenance staff and good location), but the cons far outweigh them.
