Unsafe and Expensive

At first we loved our 2 bedroom apartment. The views are great, hardwood floors throughout, and spacious. It was expensive even for the area, but we thought it was worth it because Banner Properties emphasized their security and also that the repairs man lived in the building. After signing the lease, everything changed. We had to call up maintenance and argue with them because theyve applied so many layers of paint to our doors that none of them even closed. Our neighbors below us throw huge parties until 4 or 5am (so much so that our walls were shaking) and Banner was not willing to help us. Then our toilet was broken (wouldnt flush- no water pressure) and we called it in on a Thursday afternoon, but got told it was not an emergency so they would not fix it until the next week. It took 1 hour of arguing with them to have them decide theyd fix it Friday. Then a female student was attacked in the building (in the elevator and then dragged on to a floor where the guy tried to shove her in a closet to rape her) and Banner did not even notify the residents that the attack had occured, even though the man was seen in the building since then. They put in a camera in 1 of the 2 elevators (but not the 2nd one) and there are no cameras on any of the floors except the first floor. Also, the first floor flooded with sewage so those people that lived on that floor had to throw out much of their belongings or have them disinfected. Now we are dealing with a major spider infestation. Were glad to be moving out.
Positives : great views, hardwood floors, nice location, attractive building, right off of Lake Shore Drive
Negatives : lack of security, poor maintenance, difficult staff, no recourse against loud/violent neighbors, street parking is very difficult and lots around the area run $120 a month, neighborhood is experiencing growing crime rate
