I think many of the reviewers do not have a lot of experience with just how poorly run some Chicago apartments can be. I really hope they move into one of the dumps run by ICM or the other big apartment companies. They might have some perspective on what a bad apartment is. The Belmont House is far from perfect. But you feel safe (except in the elevators), maintanance is responsive, it's a beautiful place, rent is inexpensive compared to the level of ammenities. Unfortunately the cheap housing market has really killed their main market who are all buying rather than renting. They are probably losing a ton of money right now trying to ride out the market which would explain the lower quality of service. Easily better than any other place I've lived though.
