I have to say first off I have been in the Belmont House for a couple years. I love the maintenance staff they are quick and friendly.
Elevators are terrible, the two main elevators are always breaking down also as soon as they are painted they are re scratched (by vandals) As far as the pet elevator it is also the laundry elevator and it does smell sometimes from the pets but that is to be expected I guess.
The door men for the most part are good, Tim is incredible he knows everyone and keeps his eyes on everything around the building and has been there for years, so he knows his stuff. However a couple of the new ones are down right rude to tenants and guests alike.
As far as free breakfast well if you call 6 bagels and some danish that gets eaten so fast its next to impossible to ever get anything a deal, look again. As far as free basic cable, well the reception is terrible. Have had the cable guy over more times than I can count and he has always said the same thing that the building needs rewired but they wont pay for it.
Management, Dolly has bold face lied to me (with a smile). She doesnt care about anything in this building or any of the tenants. She is totally fake and ineffective in her role.
The worst part about this place is the rent increases are more than I have ever had from ANY other building. They do not try to keep any tenant. Believe me the rent JUMPS up and bites you. But the real kicker is this is a LUXURY Building and yet they have TONS of students living in this building. Students who are drunk on weekends, passing out in elevators and halls. Also some of the valdalizim is I am sure from them. They are disrespectful and rude to the other tenants...AND they get to live there much cheaper than the rest of us. This is my biggest gripe, I dont pay over 1300.00 a month to live around students. This is NOT a dorm, and if you complain Dolly, she will smile and not do anything to correct the situation.
It is a beautiful vinatage hotel and some of the restorations are wonderful...however much outdated kitchens for "Luxury Living" no granite, dated applianaces, no great fixtures in the units, older carpet all for "LUXURY PRICES" Keep that in mind when you look, and last this is an old building so the plumbing is less than quality.

I second your thoughts about the plumbing. I had my tub unclogged in February, then it had to be done again in April. Two days later, the drain's stopped up again. Al, bless his heart, whom I think is the nicest and best maintenance man in the building, came over and fixed it, and it's been okay since, but I'm constantly wondering if it's going to be clogged up again. man, i cannot stand dolly because of the way she's spoken to me, and i try to avoid her as much as i can, but even seeing her face once in a while is still bad. she is one of the most insincere people i've ever met. |
