I lived in Cobbler Square for 2 years. After the first year, they raised my rent $20 for no apparent reason on top of my already over priced loft. The people in the office are rude and not understanding of any issues you have with the building. I had placed a doormat outside of my door in the hallway. It sat there very pretty for about 3 months, and then one day it was gone. When I went to the office and asked them about it, they explained that they were sending out notices to all tenants to remove their doormats because they were a danger to people walking in the hallways, someone could trip. And they had no explanation to what happen to MY doormat; sneaky. There is always a washer and/or dryer broken. The fountain never works. In the winter, ice and snow fall from the roof constantly waiting to knock someone out. You would think that someone would go up there and shovel the ice and snow off, but no, they just leave it there. The doorman are nice and seem surprised whenever I say Hi to them. Most everyone who lives here is rude and stuck on themselves. The neighborhood is very nice, clean and safe. THE NOISE! You can hear everything. My bed sits right underneath my upstairs neighbors shower. In the morning when he/she turns it on, it sounds like a waterfall over my head. One morning they dropped a shampoo bottle or something and it sounded like it was going to come through my ceiling. I can hear women walk through the halls with the sound of their heals echoing. I hear my neighbors phone ring EVERYTIME they get a phone call. I even heard them sneeze one day. I am a pretty friendly person and when I say hello or thank you to someone, I except a response back, but no one here, the tenants or anyone who works here, can seem to open up their mouth and be nice. This place sucks!

Why did you spend 2 years there if it was so bad? And at a higher rent the second year???? Roof leaks are always a problem...but mgmt wouldn't know about leak until it happened; there's no way to predict and fix a leak in advance. If they repainted apt and replaced carpet, what else would you expect from them? And walking/shoveling ice & snow in winter on roof only encourages MORE leaks. Try to be a bit more objective in your criticism...and learn to spell you illiterate!

Why are you surprised that rent increases every year? It's called inflation, and the increases adjusts with the ongoing market. Soon after I moved in, a water pipe burst upstairs and water dripped into my closet. They came and helped move everything out of the closet, fixed the pipes, and offered to move everything back. They even scheduled to replace my kitchen cabinets because they noticed (I didn't) that they might come loose. I'm not sure how you could hear women walking in their heels if the floors are carpeted. I went with a friend to look at an apartment in Lakeview. She was told she WOULD hear if her neighbor upstairs were walking around in heels. It's also an old building, and it has wooden floors. Seriously, if you don't want to hear anything from your neighbors, don't live in an apartment building.
