I never write bad comments about anything, but my experience should be sent to every person thinking about renting at cobbler square. I lived at cobbler square for about 3 years. One day the roof leaked so bad that it flooded my apartment, as well as at least 10 other units. From the best guesses of the maintenance staff, there was over 80 gallons of water in my place. The management said that it was only a grate the was damaged during the storm, and not there fault. After 2 months of complaints from everyone involved (over 10 apartments), and the threat of a lawsuit, they finally agreed to replace the carpets, and paint all the units affected. In addition, they had workers on the roof for 3-4 months afterwards resealing the roof. During these months, the roof showered several of the top floor place with what is best explained as pebbels and sand. Even after many attempts, the residents who lived upstairs got nothing. The noise level was always too loud. You could always hear the next door and upstairs neighbors. I found a lot better lofts in the greek town and west loop areas, for less money.

If you hated it so much, why did you stay three years? I don't get how all the complaints about this place comes from people who stayed there three or two years. Why wouldn't you leave after the first year if you hated it so much?

This did not happen aand look this person posted it in year 2005 and lived there for three years and moved out in 2002! That seems really odd?? I love Cobbler Square and they always welcome you and have great resident parties. The last one I met my current girlfriend!

The roof flooded most of the D building on 3 July 2000, and I wrote the original review in 2005. I thought long and hard about not writing a review, but as the current owner of several rental properties in Chicago, I felt it was necessary to let renters know what they might be in for if they choose to live here instead of other locations. It was a real shame, the apartmants are unique and even with the noise level, quite nice. The management is the issue, and if you do not believe me, you will find plenty of reviews here to prove me right.

The management is the real problem, they are totally unresponsive. The roof over my building has leaked this year and left a huge puddle in the hall right in front of one of the managers apartments. It stayed there until it dried up, no one ever mopped it up.
