I lived in the B building for less than a year. The location is great, and the building is very attractive from the outside. Be careful though, because the benefits pretty much end there. As soon as you move in you notice:
- It's beyond loud. The walls are so thin you can hear normal conversations of all surrounding neighbors. You better hope that your neighbors alarms are all set for the same time as yours or you will not sleep in the mornings. The best part about this is that after their alarms wake you up, you get to sit there in your bed and hear them use the bathroom. Know that I'm being sarcastic when I tell you what a joy that is to listen to every morning. I didn't even like having conversations in my home because I knew that every surrounding apartment was hearing it whether they wanted to or not.
- It gets louder! This place is apparently used for temp housing for businesses which means every weekend there are people moving in / out of this building. The problem is that usually starting at 9am every weekend there are moving trucks beeping, and noise echoing through every part of the building from the movers in the quad below.
- Louder still!! In less than one year of living there I was awaken in the middle of the night an average once a month by the buildings fire alarms going off. They once went off for over 30 minutes at around 3AM. Awesome.
- Management will either not fix, or half a$$ fix problems in your apartment. Our closet door never closed the whole time we lived there. They supposedly "fixed" it twice.
- The interior of the apartments is mediocre at best. You can get much nicer apartments for your money in Chicago. You're paying for location and the nice "grounds" that are much nicer than the actual living spaces inside.
- I saw multiple occurrences of people getting their clothes stolen out of the laundry room. I had two bicycles stolen from the bicycle rack (which is inside the "secure parking". I had close to $3,000 damage done to my car in the "secure parking".
- You should also note that "Equity Residential" has (quoted directly from the BBB)"has an unsatisfactory record with the BBB due to failure to respond to one or more complaints and or two or more otherwise unresolved complaints." Go to the BBB website and search for Equity Residential.

More annoying than the alarm noise itself--I live in constant fear of getting burned alive. It's like the boy who cried wolf. Never once have I seen anybody evacuate because we're all so used to the monthly inconvenience that we ignore it. Watch, one of these days it will be for real and no one will leave their apartments, only to be cooked by Cobbler Square inefficiencies. Although, I wonder if they are false alarms or the dumb frat boys and sorority girls overcooking their food--both irritating circumstances.

As a current resident, I completely agree with this post. Yes, I can hear my neighbor, yes the fire alarm goes off often, things are not fixed well (ex. caulking in tub keeps peeling off becuase they don't take the old moldy stuff out first!) and it gets much worse. You can find another place in Old Town for the same price, do not pick this place.
