Parking is unsafe.

I have rented an apartment here and just found out it has fifty apartments rented under Section 8. Sadly to say, I feel as if I am surrounded by gang members. Smoking in the stairways, hanging out constantly at all hours and I have found inappropriate things in the stairwell. Our elevators don't work all the time because they are always in repairs or updates, but I'm afraid to take the stairs. 33 floors and we are lucky to have one elevator running at a time... that is if you don't get stuck. I have twice.

To top that off, my apartment is located next to the trash (backs up to my kitchen wall) and every couple of hours a solution is sprayed down the trash chute and the odor is seeping through the walls of my apartment. It could be a cancerous solution. The manger cannot seem tell me what is in the solution. I constantly have a gross smell in my apartment.

I am also dealing with cigarette smoke from another apartment that is seeping through my bedroom walls and vents. It is predominantly coming through my vent in my bedroom, and I am now waking up to a smoke smell and my clothes in my closet are starting to smell. I get them dry cleaned but it does not matter because they end up smelling like smoke. Nothing like waking up to a cloud in your bedroom. So I have closed the vent because their "patchwork" did not stop it. So it is hot as anything because we cannot keep the vent open because of the smell. So then it comes through the living room vent.

I will say the staff and maintence people are very nice and poliet. I feel bad for them that they have to work at a building with so many issues. They really are great, friendly people. I wish I could take them with me.

The neighborhood is great for the most part, however it gets a little shady at night behind the building and south. You DO NOT want to be in the parking garage after dark. Very unsafe. I found condoms in the stairwell...used. And on the weekends it can be very loud on the streets. During the day it can be quite, but I think I have watched at least 4 fights between homeless people outside my window. Or hear them singing at 3 am....

I would go a little bit north toward State if you are looking or east or west on dearborn...the few blocks around this building can just get a little too shady for me. (My boyfriend had a man stop him to see if he could smell his feet)

Oh and I have seen random people come off the street to do their laundry in our building and no one stops them. $1400 dollars for one bedroom and a side of smoke.
