I have comfortably lived here for over twenty years and while the apartment units are small and closet space is tight (compared to other highrise apartments throughout the city), my experiences living here have positively outweighed the negatives; especially after reading the ratings and reviews of other apartments throughout the city.

Positives include:
-location
-free parking
-convienent access to all public
transportation, expressways and Lake
Shore Drive
-a nice sense of community (among the
numerous long-term tenants)
-nice and responsive building engineering
maintenance staff
-moderate rents (compared to other apartments
throughout the city offering similar
amenities)- you get what you pay for

Negatives include:
-increasing numbers of section 8 residents
crowded into apartments (residents are not
screened as compared to previous years)...
ditto college students
-very thin apartment walls (you really don't
need/want to hear your neighbors fuss,
fight, play their music or make love)
-Condescending and ghetto acting management
and staff in the management office (the
quality and professionalism of the people
working in the management office has
seriously deteriorated over the years).

I would recommend Lake Meadows for someone just starting out and of course long-term tenents are already settled...however for me... if I was in the market for a larger unit/apartment I would move to a more upscale apartment building/complex or condo because I would not pay more than what I'm paying now to live here...as I mentioned earlier, it's comfortable but you do get what you pay for.
