NO!! I HAVE BEEN HERE FOR 8 YEARS AND I HAVE NEVER WITNESSED A ROACH ANYWHERE IN MY APARTMENT. I CAN ADMIT,,THEY HAVE HAD A FEW RUNS OF QUESTIONABLE PEOPLE AROUND THE COMPLEX AND I ALWAYS MADE A POINT OF DRAWING ATTENTION TO WHAT I SAW. I DONT LIKE THE OLD INSIDES OF THE BUILDING BUT OVER ALL ITS BEEN A COOL PLACE TO LIVE. I LOVE MY VIEW,,THE MAINTENANCE STAFF IS A LIL UNPROESSIONAL BUT THEY WILL DO A JOB IF THE WORK ORDER IS PUT IN. BUGS''' NAW! I HAVE A HUGE FEAR OF BUGS AND I I SAW ONE I WOULD BE MOVING THAT DAY!!

There are bugs. I've seen roaches, ants, and spiders. Even a mouse in the lobby once. Also, mosquitos get in very easily in the summer if you have your windows open because the window screens are old and don't fit the windows properly.

Why such a hostile response to the first comment? You are lucky you've never seen a bug. I have seen roaches also and have heard from the maintenance staff that mice are in the basements and sometimes do get up into some of the apartments. You are not entirely accurate--Smithereen comes ONCE a year, not twice. And management, apparently to save money, did not have them come in 2007.

WARNING: They advertise free heat, but the heating system consists of faulty old radiators. Today, my apartment is freezing, as is one of my neighbor's. But a woman downstairs says her place is nice and toasty. I didn't believe her and she invited me in to see for myself. Indeed, her radiators are piping hot, while mine are ice cold. And yes, I have the valve open. I asked the one of the janitors in the building about this and his exact words were "the whole heating system is f*cked up, but they don't want to put any money into it."

I agree, the heating system is 50 years old and completely f*cked up. Some of the apartments don't get adequate heat at all and others feel like a furnace. Management will come in and "measure" the temperature and if they get a reading of anything over 60 degrees, they won't do a thing about the heat. Sometimes it's freezing outside (and in my apt) and the heat is off in this "zone". But if you call and their meter reads at least 60 degree room air temperature, they won't send heat to your unit. You have no control at all and can do nothing but curl up in a blanket.

I live here for 5 years. This summer I saw two roaches. Before, never. It soon outbreak. Pest control happens every two years.
