Unlike all the other people on this site, I love Lake Meadows. Before I moved in I read the reviews and I would have NEVER moved into this apartment based on the reviews I saw. Luckily for me, I have two friends who have stayed in the mid rise buildings for 3 years and they only had minor complaints (rude management being one). I am sooo happy I moved here! It's the cheapest I could find and it's close to EVERYTHING. As a woman living on her own I feel safe and I come in at all times of night. The heat in my unit was exceptional this winter and when I did find it to be cold, I called the management office and the maintenance guys were up here in minutes and it has been that way for every other request I've put in! I do not own a car, but my boyfriend owns a very expensive car and when he comes to visit, he parks in the lot...it has been safe and everyone that comes to visit me has found their car safe as well. I live in the 401 E. 32nd St. building and the staff is very friendly. I haven't had any problems with bugs or pests (I am a VERY clean person, maybe that makes a difference), my neighbors are quiet so I rarely hear any noise, heat works, and so does everything else in my apartment. People keep in mind that this place is not the lap of luxury (no dishwasher, laundry in units, remoldeled kitchen), but for the money you pay, it's a good deal. I renewed my lease and I'm glad I did!

Keep in mind that for the money you pay at Lake Meadows, you could easily find a brand new condo rental in the south loop or an apartment in a newly rennovated non-highrise building in bronzeville, bridegeport, or pilsen that does have an in-unit washer/dryer, dishwasher, central air and heat, a modern kitchen and bathroom, hardwood floors, and new windows. Lake Meadows is not the bargin you think it is. Check out Craigslist.
