Bedbugs!!!!!!!!!!

Several apartments on our floor as well as a few other floors in the building have become infested with bedbugs.

This is due to the increasing numbers of international students from India and China moving in and bringing bedbugs with them.

The exterminators came to my apartment twice, but that didn't solved the problem.

I ended up having to throw out my sofa and mattress and this whole ordeal has been very upsetting.

If you decide to move here, make sure you have them add a clause to your lease stating that if there is a bedbug infestation on your floor, they will reimburse you for any of your furniture and belongings that have to be thrown out.

This is a HUGE problem at LM. Everyone here is afraid that they will be the next victim. I've lost count of the number of mattresses I've seen disposed of in the last few months. The management here refuses to take responsibility for this problem and it continues to get worse.

I am an Indian student living at LM myself. In India, I hadn't even heard about bedbugs, leave alone seeing one. So, bedbugs can't be blamed on international students alone. Yes, it is certainly possible that the bedbugs are picked up during air journeys. Anyways, after I moved into my first LM apartment with 2 friends in Aug 2008, within a month or so we started facing the bedbug problem. It had become normal for us to be covered by bedbug bites(rashes, lumps) and to keep scratching all the time. In Dec 2008, there was an extermination and the bedbugs reduced for sometime, but it wasn't long before they were back. Then in July 2009, we sought a new lease and moved to a new apartment. Luckily, in this one, we haven't seen many bedbugs till now.
